IMHO fucking with the rotation other than using a called up 5th starter is silly this early in the season.

Rookie watch: Kris Bryant, Carlos Rodon, Joc Pederson
David Schoenfield | ESPN — 1 hour ago

Though Bryant arrived to much attention last Friday and struck out three times in his debut, I was impressed that he drew three walks in his second game on Saturday, showing a quick adjustment to laying off the off-speed pitches the Padres were feeding him. Though his first two hits on Saturday were a soft blooper to the outfield and an infield single (he showed some decent speed running to first), I still like the approach. I expect his first home run for the Chicago Cubs will come this week.

Across town, the Chicago White Sox have called up left-hander Carlos Rodon last year's third overall pick in the draft. After an impressive spring training, he fanned 13 in 10 innings at Triple-A and will initially work out of the bullpen. As Christina Kahrl wrote here, though Rodon will initially give the Sox a reliever who can provide multiple innings in relief, it shouldn't be too long before he enters the rotation in place of Hector Noesi or John Danks.

Pederson has been with the Los Angeles Dodgers and is quietly hitting .289/.438/.553, with two home runs and four doubles in 12 games. I like the power he generates from an easy swing, and though the strikeouts are a concern -- 17 already -- he has drawn 10 walks (although three were intentional). Don Mattingly has been batting him seventh or eighth to help ease him in, and though the high strikeout rate means he probably won't hit .289 all season, the patience at the plate means he's likely to produce an above-average OBP. He has also looked good in center field. Bryant will have his work cut out for him in the Rookie of the Year race.

big papi being a big ass
but palmer doesn't need to be a douche about it
and to be fair, if you watch the video HERE, it looks like ortiz actually did check his swing
apparently he and the 3b umpire had an earlier beef so...

Apparently Jim Palmer is not a fan of David Ortiz
Ben Ross | Baltimore Sun Times — 15 minutes ago

Sunday’s matchup between the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles featured two ejections and a home plate umpire change, but the most interesting story may be a reaction from legendary Orioles pitcher, and current broadcaster, Jim Palmer.
Ortiz was arguing with home plate umpire John Tumpane over a check-swing, and was eventually ejected in the fifth inning with the game tied.

ESPN’s Gordon Edes reached out to Palmer to get elaboration on his Tweet, and Palmer responded:

"Who needs a home plate umpire when David’s at the plate? He’s always complaining about close pitches. What I found objectionable was that the Red Sox are playing an important series — game tied, fifth inning — and his actions get him tossed. This game is about winning. What did he do yesterday to help the Sox win? Was there any redeeming or positive outcome from his actions? Only for the Orioles."

Palmer wasn’t the only one who who was vocal about his distaste for Ortiz’s actions, either.

I disagree. Palmer is an Oriole, and Ortiz is a Sox. That's just good ol' division rivalry.

Not a Big Pappy fan, nor one of Palmer, although I do respect Palmer for his career. Palmer is a known douche, but is right about Pappy not helping his team. It's only the 5th inning Pappy, you're gonna get another chance...shut up and sit down.

Addison Russell being called up by the Cubs. In my mind, he's their best prospect.

Russell and Bryant called up..Seager moving up the farm ranks, but for how long? Mark Saxon is calling for Seager's arrival in June and i've seen multiple reports that the Dodgers think Seager will be ready in June or July ( and those reports were back in December, long before this hot start of his). maybe that'll end up playing a role in Guerrero staying on the bench? Seager obviously takes precedence over Guerrero.

Kapler said the other day that they all view Seager as an athlete that can play multiple spots and they don't feel like him getting work at a spot other than SS is gonna hurt him. so Law could be right about Seager playing 3B..at least for a little while anyway. Law could do his little touchdown dance or whatever this year. but before that'd happen, Ethier or Guerrero would probably be traded to open up a spot on the bench for Juan Rojas. or maybe they pay to make Crawford disappear? don't think anybody's taking Juan Rojas, somebody would have to go.

I'm very happy with the way my team is playing and have no room to complain. I am however slightly pissed off at the fact that kemp and Hanley are ops'n 900 each. Who didn't see that coming? 3 yrs down the road though and I think it will be evident that nerdpower made some wise choices

I might be an asshole but I like the fact we're starting to clear payroll. Can't complain with the way Joc is playing.
