unintentional. Detroit came out on fire this year and kinda put an end to all Price/trade talk before it could really get goin strong. i feel like the price for Cueto may be too steep at the trade deadline. hope not, but i get that feeling because you have teams like San Diego and SF that are thirsty for pitching and that extra playoff spot provides more hope than there used to be. Amaro could help out by doing what he seems to always do.
Ryu won't be out the entire year will he? Isn't this just cleaning up his shoulder? Not repairing any ligaments or anything right?
we'll see of course, but everything i've read thus far says that he's gonna be shut down for the year - Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles speculates that the Dodgers‘ glut of infielders could be leveraged in trades to address the starting rotation. Hyun-jin Ryu and Brandon McCarthy are already out for the season, and as Saxon notes, Friedman told reporters (including MLBTR’s Zach Links) that an excess of good players can benefit a team by making trades easier to facilitate. Saxon quotes Friedman as saying, “…if we can add an arm, that would certainly be helpful.” they'll grab a #3 caliber guy at some point i believe. they want Pablo Fernandez to get a crack at the rotation as well, but i don't think they'll be relying on him to step into Ryu's spot.
Losing Ryu will make the Dodgers‘ efforts to acquire a starter significantly more difficult, opines Steve Dilbeck of the L.A. Times. Rival clubs already knew that they had leverage over the Dodgers, given the team’s rotation holes, and with Ryu slated to go under the knife, the Dodgers’ need has only been magnified. The Dodgers need to add a reliable mid-rotation arm, but teams can afford to demand a more premium asking price, Dilbeck feels, knowing that the Dodgers aren’t likely to be able to get by for the rest of the season with Anderson, Beachy, Bolsinger and Frias supporting Clayton Kershawand Zack Greinke. meh, Beane is a reasonable GM..Kazmir should be attainable at a reasonable price.
They aren't sure what needs to be done yet, so I guess it's not out of the question but I wouldn't count on him being back.
that's the only way i'd deal for Cueto. it's a win for us so long as Cueto gets dealt somewhere. that way there's no QO attached to him in free agency.
Ryu's been playing with this condition for the past 2 years. Crazy to think that he did that and was still that effective. Wonder how good he can be when he's fully healty.
