Forget Bolsinger and how the Dodgers still have the 4th ranked staff in all of MLB for a second..not only have you ignored the money that they spent to add Pablo Fernandez, but you're also speaking in past tense as if the season's over or like you've already been to the the future/July and seen our FO swing and miss at adding guys that they're currently scouting for trade purposes ( Cueto, Zimmermann, Price). If the FO doesn't do anything during trade season, go crazy, dude. Still, no one here at DSP would care about the McCarthy gamble if Ryu were healthy because McCarthy wasn't signed to make post season starts.

As far as winning 116 games and being exciting..the Dodgers are only few weeks removed from swingin it like the '27 Yankees and they were doing that with Rollins and Uribe in the lineup. Of course they've yet to add Olivera and Seager, but they've also not had SVS for a while either and you see what he did last night. Regardless, I still don't see the significance of discussing the 4th ranked pitching staff in a thread designed to celebrate the Kemp trade. This Debbie Downer madness is runnin wild. We need to find that Pads thread, so this shit can get back on track, irish.

So trading Kemp saved the dodgers, yet they are currently on pace for less wins then they got last year.

I have to ask, saved them from what?

Like was previously stated here, it's all about a title. Until that can be answered yes or no for the season this article is nothing more than opinion because the dodgers aren't any better in the stat that matters, wins.

If you had read the piece you wouldn't have to ask.

To simplify that^ for you, they're saved from having even more money tied up in outfielders that do not nearly deserve the money they make and they made room for the only true CF they have. Now, I realize that I'm talking to a guy who thought Joc Pederson was still blocked from the majors even after the Kemp trade, so it's totally feasible that you'd still be lost here. Or maybe you're not lost at all..maybe you're just trolling again?..maybe both.

They also could have kept kemp, not traded for heisey and still have had the joc position as it currently stands.

    wrong
because without being able to predict crawford getting injured
    it would have been crawford/puig/kemp

Which is EXACTLY why I detest the extended playoffs, I don't want to see the 5th best team in the league go to the World Series.

I've said it a hundred times and I'll say it a hundred more. TWO divisions in each league, ONE playoff round, and then the WORLD SERIES. FUCK WILD CARDS.

a specific injury to a specific player, no. Starting duty today is basically a 4 man job and with double switches in the NL I'd prefer 5 if you can find it. Someone will get hurt/slump/get rested, you hope for only one. To date across the 30 teams, 59 outfielders qualify for the batting title.

I was as bummed as anyone about the Kemp trade as he has been one of my favorite players for a while, but I understand why the team did it. A lot of us screamed "THAT WAS THE BEST THEY COULD DO!?!" at the time, but since then we haven't heard a peep about anyone being remotely interested and thus far this season, Kemp has given us the answer why. I thought he had turned the corner from his injuries, but it appears his best years are certainly behind him. Grandal has been a great addition and it looks like Rollins is finally starting to get it going, so it looks like we made out of it pretty well. Also, could you imagine how pissed everyone would be if Ethier was having this season for someone else?

Not that it is Earth shattering or anything, but Kemp has started to wake up a little. In June he hit 5 HRs, had 15 RBI, but 31 K! In the last seven days, he is hitting .304/.320/.652 with 2 HR and 5 RBI.

Either way, it just doesn't seem like Kemp will ever be that Kemp again, although like Colorado, I thought he'd return to form after the second half of last season.

Nice move by the FO on this trade, especially if Grandal continues to play like he has. He is a very good defensive catcher and a TERRIFIC offensive catcher.

Fuck Joc. The way I look at it is we got one of the only elite catchers in the league for him. Trade alone speaks volume.

I would hardly call him "elite", although he is above league average. And above league average is a pretty good return for Kemp.

    @BtBScore: Buster Posey: .185 ISO, .374 wOBA, 145 wRC+, 3.0 fWAR (307 PA)

    Yasmani Grandal: .228 ISO, .381 wOBA, 148 wRC+, 2.0 fWAR (229 PA)

@pedromoura: Yasmani Grandal through 200 PAs in 2015: .390 OBP, .500 SLG. No catcher has put up those two numbers in >200 PAs since Buster Posey in 2012.

200 PA does not a career make.

Sure, but he's also only 26 and has been an "elite" hitting catcher this year so far.

You said you'd "hardly call him elite, although he is above league average".

    You didn't get it.

You said "his numbers blah, blah, blah...200+ plate appearances".

I said "200 plate appearances do not a career make".

You said "he's been an elite hitting catcher so far this year.

    So...that's kinda what I said.

In other words, after he has sustained that performance over a significant period of time, we'll talk about his "elite-ness".

    K?
