Why bother keeping tabs on his shooting? He's essentially just a paraplegic at this point.

Bill MacDonald is in his fifth season as the Lakers television play-by-play announcer on Time Warner Cable SportsNet, though he’s covered Kobe since the very beginning. Calling Kobe’s historic 81-point game will always top the list, but so will that night he raced Bryant home on the 405 freeway. “Since Kobe and I live near each other, he would say to me, after the games ‘Wanna race home?’ But, we never left at the same time, until this one day. I’m driving down the 405 and I see Kobe’s car in front of me. It was stopped and I happened to blow right past him with my fucking hand and my middle finger out the window like ‘Fuck you!’ and I’m screaming at him and what does he do? We proceed to play cat and mouse for the next 25 minutes all the way down the San Diego freeways, breaking all kind of rules.

    kupchak is right
one question could very well lead to another...

REPORTER: "Hey Mitch, do you think Byron is a piece of shit?"
KUPCHAK: "No comment... you're going to have to rephrase that if you want an answer."
REPORTER: "Okay... do you not believe Byron Scott to not be unlike a chard of human excrement?"
KUPCHAK: "Wait, what? Not, not, unlike... wtf are you asking?!!!"
REPORTER: "My bad, do you think Byron is a piece of shit?"
KUPCHAK: "I think the better question would be -- do you not believe me not answering a question about Byron Scott not necessarily being unlike a chard of human excrement?"
REPORTER: "Wow, I see your point. I apologize."
KUPCHAK: "No need... and yes, Byron Scott is a piece of shit."
REPORTER: "OMG, cool! Can I quote you on that?"
KUPCHAK: "Man, I fucken hate how one question leads to another..."
REPORTER: "Hey Mitch... fwiw, I see what you did there."

Kupchak doesn't have much to say about Byron Scott
by Mike Bresnahan | Los Angeles Times — 8 hours ago

Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak declined to speak in depth about Coach Byron Scott while being interviewed by reporters Wednesday.

“Byron is under contract and until that changes, or if that changes, we’ll let you know,” Kupchak said.

He was asked a follow-up question on whether Scott had done a good job this season, the Lakers sitting at 11-44, with the second-worst record in the league, after returning from the All-Star break.

“Once again, I don’t want to get into a Byron discussion right now. I’m not going to really answer any questions about Byron because I’m concerned that one question will lead to another,” Kupchak said. “If his status changes, I’ll let you know.”

A team publicist later cut off a third question about Scott, who has only one more guaranteed year on his contract. He went 21-61 last year and was expected to finish this season despite the Lakers’ stumbling toward their fewest victories ever.

There is some feeling within the organization that Scott deserves a shot next season with an improved roster. Another sentiment, however, is that his “tough love” has been a little too tough at times on the Lakers’ young players.

Scott is in the second season of a four-year, $17-million contract. The fourth year is not guaranteed.

Let's not make any moves at the deadline or anything. It's not like we have had the three consecutive worst seasons in franchise history....definitely no need to improve, acquire picks, or free up more playing time for the young guys

Move to get where? Better? Not worth mortgaging the future with the cap space going up in the next 2 years for maybe an extra 4 or 5 wins in the West no less. Next years draft is our best and last chance for a top pick for awhile. Oh yeah nobody wants us to get better.

    Yeah, let's not.
The tank is rolling just fine, no need to try and improve.

Yeah, they couldn't even get a draft pick for Young without actually sending a draft pick out with him, so it's like forget it..just wait until the cap and salaries jump up again ( and perhaps he plays better) and he'll look like more of a bargain.
Can't get shit for Hibbert, famous for his 0 and 0 performances in the playoffs.
Lou had value and it seems like those talks were hot, but he's also a good fit for us going forward, obviously played with Derozan in Toronto, so could help recruiting in those regards.
Gotta have some vet fire power if you wanna be considered in free agency by an all-star vet like Derozan.
