So I went to this Jackie Robinson documentary preview the other night. You know Jackie Robinson, don’t you? If you’ve ever dabbled in competitive sports, read this occasionally, sport-related website and/or are a human being with a conscience, then you better damn well know who Jackie Robinson is. See where I'm going at: http://sportschump.net/2016/04/07/burning-memories-jackie-robinson/17247/
Anyway...I don't know what one says on April 15th as far as baseball, but let's win tonight for the memory of Jackie and what he means to all of us...including non- bb fans???
Even Jackie quit when the great "traditionalist" Dodgers traded him to the Giants...blasphemy. A low point in Dodger history...
Wow...in 1947, in a national poll, Jackie came in 2nd as the most popular man in America. Behind Bing Crosby and ahead of Frank Sinatra! That is amazing...and it wasn't until 1959 that the Boston Red Sox had a black player...even more amazing, perhaps.
Pumpsie Green Equally amazing is that the Yankees didn't add their first black player (Elston Howard) to roster until 1955.
To take this a little further, there is no front office or management figure in sports that I've ever hated more than Red Auerbach. Hate him even more that fat little felon Eddie D.
Red was an arrogant ass from the first time I ever heard him. I get it if you're from Boston, you think he's a god but for everyone else... he sucks... except he won and won and won and won Fuck the Celtics and anyone having anything to do with them
Nah I thinks he's impatient and tired of waiting for you to ask He's sort of old fashioned that way.. likes you to hold his hand. You know...
