Completely agree with NOT calling Verdugo untouchable. Urias Yes.. maybe De Leon Yes but not Verdugo... not yet

Thanks for the report. I'll give him a watch Friday night in Visalia.

"Untouchable" sucks IMO. Urias is the closest, and even then theres scenarios I'd move him. Every other minor leaguer should be available in the right deal.

Urias is the ONLY prospect even close to being untouchable now that Seager is up. But I would trade him for the right deal. That deal won't come, so I'm happy to have him and see what he can do. Really excited for him.

    bravo
    totally agree
i know this is sacrilege, but even kershaw isn't untouchable
would have to be some monster impossible deal that landed us (hypothetically) a trout/harper/stanton/arrieta return
    obviously would never happen
    just saying tho

Part of Verdugo being " untouchable " is probably due to Puig's bum ass. Lol
It's time to touch Puig. [no homo]

Kershaw is as untouchable as any star in any sport right now.

The thing about him - ignore his incomparable stats for a minute - everything else is ideal as the face of your organization. Always acts with class, says the right things, does more than his share of the off-field charity related stuff. Has always been healthy (knock on wood) and has shown that he'll play dinged-up if he can. Not at all satisfied with his accomplishments - works hard in the offseason to come back even better. When it was time to negotiate his contract, he kept it out of the media as much as possible. Compare that to Arrieta who is already publicly lobbying to parlay Strasburg's contract into a max deal for himself. Sure, you can say you don't care about any of Harper's baggage if he keeps producing like that. Well, what if next time he goes too far or at some point has a couple down years while still running his mouth? That's simply not a concern with Kershaw.

Numbers wise, we're talking about Kershaw having potential to rewrite career records and a legitimate chance of being in the discussion of the best ever at his position.

By the way, irish, it wasn't lost on me that you were referring hypothetically to a situation where we we'd get an impossible haul back for Kersh. Just wanted to make my point on how much more valuable he is than other superstars.

If CK retired today he's a hall of famer and arguably the greatest LAD ever.
    Damn right he's untouchable.
The kind of pitcher you just roll over for, offer a 300MM contract
Still can't believe he turned that offer down.
CK is always the starting point.
If you're trying to win it all, keep CK.
If you're rebuilding, you wanna start with CK.
If your plane is going down over the ocean, you wanna look to the cockpit and see CK in the captain's seat.
If CK's not on the plane, you wanna look outside your window and see CK flying in to save your ass.
If the plane crashes in the water and you've somehow lived, you want a Merman who looks like CK to save you.

I'd be very disappointed if they gave up Urias for anyone.
And when I say anyone, I mean anyone...name'em.
There's just gotta be a better way because I wanna see Fernandomania II.
Not that I would be OK with them offering up as much for a single player, but if LAD can't offer you 4 or 5 Top 100 prospects from the best farm in the biz and get who they want, and you're still sitting their saying - nope, I want Urias - then I definitely wanna keep Urias at that point. Lol
Just proves how great he is.

Zero confidence in McCarthy being a factor this year, maybe next if no set backs. Hoping Ryu can be bottom of the rotation arm by seasons end, and I think Ballslinger falls in the 4 slot. Not a pretty picture, but then again, neither is the NL West.

Agree he's HOF calibre, but greatest Dodger ever? Nah, his name is Koufax and HE is LEGEND. FOUR no hitters in four CONSECUTIVE years? Those are some big shoes to fill, and I dare say Kershaw would agree.

Just because I said " arguably " doesn't mean it's time to argue, or that I believe he's the best LAD ever, making a point rather.
That being said, I believe CK's already passed Koufax in career WAR and CK's nowhere near finished so he continues to stack the deck.

It wasn't the point, I wasn't launching into a CK is the GOAT LAD campaign or anything like that, you responded as if I was.
When I said arguably I meant I've seen it argued using WAR, hence the mention in next post

Going waaaaaaay back, I remember seeing Edwin Jackson vs. Jerome Williams in Fresno. The battle of the Dodger-Giant pitching phenoms at the time.

Might hit the Visalia-Rancho Cucamonga game Friday night.

The Dodgers had a “big crew” on hand today for a showcase in the Dominican Republic where second baseman Jose Miguel Fernandez and outfielder Lazaro Armenteros auditioned for teams, tweets Ben Badler of Baseball America.
