I have to chime in. We went from the O'Malleys, who really only cared about the team, to Fox who really didn't give a damn, to Mcourt who obviously wanted a money grab, to the Guggs who lets face it, is a hedge fund.

The Guggs are all about return on investment, not baseball for baseball's sake. They had Magic as the media face, but in reality, WTF does Magic know about baseball? His financial contribution was nil, and when he said signing Grienke was the #1 priority, I knew he's just a figurehead.

The Guggs are all about ROI. They are not baseball "owners" in the pure sense. And that has been a problem for the past 27 years.

And, if anyone says that the Giant winning three WS in the past 5 years is a fluke with them leading the division again beating up on the weak and good teams the past few days, you are digging your head so far in the ground, it's coming back up the ground from China and being shoved back in your as*

This FO had to be held accountable. Don't want to spend FA money. Fine...bring up those magical minor league talents....lets see what they got.

I believe in windows of opportunity, and we are blowing it big time.

    It's all about perspective.

I see the window as ever-widening.

A few years ago the Dodgers were contenders with nothing in the farm and reliant on free agents. Now, although our core is aging, the farm is ripe and ready to start replacing the aging core with actual talent, and less reliant on free agents.

We'll never agree. But my view is like the old bull and his son standing on top of the hill, overlooking the herd. The young bull says "Let's run down the hill and fuck one of those cows!" The old bull says, "Son, why don't we walk down the hill and fuck them all?"

Most of this forum wants to throw caution to the wind and win now at all costs. I'd rather be able to win for a sustained period of time.

The closing window thing is akin to the Ryu won't be back in any capacity this year thing, hard stretch.
Somewhere along this ride it has to be acknowledged that just about every MLB player starts as a prospect.
I mean if prospects never get a chance, does MLB even exist?

When we talk about a "window" we are really just talking about Kershaw, right? There's nothing else on this team now (or for the past 3 years) that can't be replaced.

I'm pretty sure most of " the window" pertains to CK, but Gebbeth can answer that.
I think there is some validity to another window with the Dodgers as a whole, too. Sure, you can replace any player, any team. But with whom? Is there another Agon as he was the past years? Is there another Greinke as he was? A HR onslaught like there was? A Turner like there was? God forbid, another Dee stealing bases like he did? Forget about another Kershaw. Replace..sure...but all that stuff together again, all at the same time, on the same team every day? A 42-8 stretch?
    Anything is possible. I know.
Probable? Not in this lifetime most likely.
That can be construed as a window closing...definitely.

CK has that 1990's Atlanta Braves-like staying power, we love to brag about his ability to stiff arm the new flavor of the month types every year.
Now, imagine if this core of young/elite farm talent fulfills it's promise at the ML level ala the 1990's Braves, off to a good start so far, I'd say we already have our Chipper and perhaps our Andruw as well.

Lol You joke, but Klesko was a beast
