Gotcha, so you think the end result will be Lazarito signing with SD?
    What about the Gourriel bros?

Nothing on either. The reports early on for the elder was that his citizenship was a mess. Like he did something that he thought would make it easier for him to get cleared, but it made it worse. Younger won't do anything until the off season.

5 this month which is great.
12 in his previous 700 or so at bats before AA which is not so great.
Specially since hes in a hitters park n league.
    Maybe hes got newfound muscles.

They changed his swing to get more loft. The strength was there, it was the swing angle that was a problem.

Another solid start for our #17th ranked prospect Chase DeJong. So far at Tulsa 4 - 3 with an ERA of 2.78 and a WHIP of .098.

Jharel Cotton named PCL pitcher of the week.

    Cotton
made a pair of road starts, going 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA (10 IP, 2 ER), allowing only four hits, while finishing second in the PCL with 15 strikeouts. Furthermore, Cotton held hitters to a .114 average and had a 0.70 WHIP. May 23 at Fresno, he went 5.0 innings, giving up just one hit (a home run) and striking out 10, becoming the first Oklahoma City pitcher with 10 strikeouts in just five innings since Robinson Tejeda on August 13, 2006 at Round Rock. He got the win in his second start, May 29 at Sacramento, after giving up one run in 5.0 innings on three hits with five punchouts.

The 24-year-old Virgin Islands native made four starts in the Oklahoma City rotation to begin the year before shifting to the bullpen, where he made six relief appearances preceding his two starts this week. Cotton was selected by the Dodgers in the 20th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of East Carolina. He entered this season as Los Angeles' No. 9 prospect according to Baseball America. This is his third career Pitcher of the Week award, having previously been honored with the Single-A California League's Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in July 2014 and the Double-A Texas League's Tulsa Drillers in July 2015. Cotton was also a 2013 Mid-Season All-Star with the Single-A Midwest's League Great Lakes Loons. In 89 career games (54 starts), Cotton has gone 19-24 with a 3.65 ERA and 412 strikeouts in 365.1 innings.

Got to say I hope we can snag Nolan Jones in the first. His bat speed looks nice...

It is so important to have a good draft this year after what happened at the top last season and the fact we are about to be without a lot of Intl money over the next couple of seasons. The team is loaded at the upper minors, but currently looking kind of weak at the lower levels. Hopefully that changes here after the draft.

The more Nolans we can get on the team the better.

I'm so scared that if they take another college arm he becomes Chris Reed 2.0... Chris Anderson 2.0... Aaron Miller 2.0

Meet our latest victim in our bullpen russian roulette:

    • Righty Gus Schlosser is headed to the Dodgers on a minor league deal, asMike Ashmore of MyCentralJersey.com reports. Schlosser dominated the Atlantic League this year with the Somerset Patriots, earning him a return to the affiliated ranks. The 27-year-old cracked the majors in 2014 with the Braves, allowing 7.64 earned per nine over 17 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and six walks. He spent last year at the Double-A level in the Rockies organization.

They're using Phillip Pfeifer (3rd rounder last year), out of the pen and he has done well. His control is a little wonky at times.

The more I look at the way the Dodgers pitching is playing out, I would like to see them go for the gusto and try to land Gutierrez before calling it a year. After the De Leon, Montas and Buehler injuries, it would be nice to see one more big arm added to the org and then the club focus more on the field in the draft.

Montas will be starting Saturday for OKC. Not sure on the reason behind this as he had been getting work out of the pen. I wonder if the FO is thinking that they may have some wiggle room now with Coleman, Blanton, Fien and Jansen pulling their weight. It is also not bad for a guy like Montas who has the stamina to pitch deep into games, to get as many IP as possible to continue to develop his secondary stuff.

Another option for the pen soon may be Grant Dayton who has been pitching very well this year and has apparently caught the attention of scouts as a guy who is ready to contribute at the big league level.
