This year is a wash. I will continue to watch this team develop because this season is over.

A W is a W, and that sure is what the team needs, in spades.
But coming back and winning it for Kazmir, but not CK, is just wrong.
But, I sure will take it.
I know, fair ain't got nothing to do with it...

We all know this team as currently constructed cannot win the NL West or wildcard let alone a playoff series.

If the FO has any credibility they will make major moves at the trade deadline. They know what they need to do.

The chances they will do the right thing, 30-70 against given their financial stance. Probably more "depth" moves or rehab projects.

Riiiiiiiiiight.. depth... because that's where most of this 'talent' needs to stay

Meanwhile in the Big Leagues... nada... ...<crickets chirp> ... ...as random pretenders are awarded lineup spots "just to see"

"Know" is a strong word, suspect possibly but in the MLB all it takes is a hot streak and a successful acquisition to make a run. I still have hope faint as it is but I'd like to see what we look like after the AS break.

Here's hint..... look for scars, disability INS as well as waiver claims, lots of first MLB at bats and the G'Nats with double digit lead.

On the + side: Great deals on field level seats (but higher beer prices at the stadium).

I know what you are getting at, but we were just on a hot streak and we still fell 2 games behind the Gnats.

It's enough to drink yourself into a stupor.

We need a good starting pitcher more than I thought. I brushed off the 7 games under .500 when Kershaw doesn't pitch thing for as long as I could...thinking only an improved offense was the missing ingredient.

But seeing how badly it affects us when Kershaw isn't perfect...it shows how weak this roster truly is. Imagine how much worse we would be if Kershaw wasn't superhuman...say, a 2.50 ERA. Great, but not superhuman...we would be in disaster mode. It's amazing how reliant we truly are on one guy. When he shows even an ounce of mortality, it shows how bad we are without him.

Believe me if I was a big drinker I'd be downing several adult beverages!! Our hot streak was against some pretty good teams. As well as the Gnats are playing it has been against some pretty weak teams but they did beat the Pirates and we didn't. I have no good reason why we lost 3 of 4 and looked so bad at it. Now the Gnats get the weak ass A's and the D-Bags for the next 7 which is sickening! Then we get the O's while they are playing the Rocks at home. Is it me or does their schedule seem easier than ours.

Actually, no. If they have any credibility they will stay the course and stick to the plan, rather than blow it up for a one shot deal.

    That's what I'm counting on.

To me, that means a 70/30 chance they do the right thing, which is the opposite of what you want.

You contradict yourself in the same post. The offense is why it hurts us so much when Kershaw isn't perfect, not because we need another pitcher. You can't win if you don't score, it's that simple. Don't care how many aces you have. IF we had a better offense, they yes, I would definitely agree we need another pitcher. But until we generate offense, it wouldn't matter if our starting 5 were Koufax, Gibson, Feller, Young and Kershaw...they'd all have a losing record.

They've been snakebit with their budget minded experiments to the point that you really have to question their talent evaluating.

Ned, by comparison, was much better at it. Turner, Punto, Ethier, M Ellis, Carroll.........

I have to disagree with you here. Sticking to a plan that isnt working is not a sign of integrity or smarts....it's just being stubborn and intransigent. They had a chance to get SP without losing prospects, and pieced together a broken SP rotation of mid level players who collectively costing us money while not even playing.

We cant hit, we cant pitch, we cant close out games. This is a formula worth keeping?

How many Latos signings do we need before actually doing something.

What is the use of prospects if you are not going to use them or leverage them?

Where is the "win now" part or the win now and later equation (their words not ours).

This is the definition of insanity, not good strategy.

it was all a lie from the beginning
guggenheim never intended to win right now and the moves we have made/not made more than state the facts
