Don't know if I expect them to beat Sabathia, but I expect a spirited effort behind Julio and some good ABs, that's for damn sure.
LAD has beaten something like 4 of the last 5 or 6 LH starters they've faced, including Bumgarner.
Didn't beat Jon Lester, but still won that game.
All told, personally, I won't be losing any sleep over LH pitching going into the post season.
Do they have some trouble, sure, look at the numbers on the year and it's evident.
But they've proven, especially recently, that they can win these ball games VS LHP, so it's far from automatic.
And late August/September is absolutely the time to start putting W's in the win column VS LHP in their case.

Three titles in five years will do that.

    Now......pardon me while I de-louse myself.

I agree, particularly because between the Nats and Cubs they have only 1 lefty each (Gio Gonzalez and Jon Lester) as LH starters in their playoff rotations.

Well, it's a foregone conclusion then that they can handle LH because of recent results? OK, glad to be wrong. But if last night is any indicatipn of the team personality, they clocked the RH...got ridiculously shut down by that goofy LH
for multiple innings on cue...and as soon as they removed him, started hitting HRs and whatever.
I'll gladly assume that I am totally wrong on this...but it does seem more often than not, ( to me) the LH is like a massive shot of novocaine for the lineup.

I really liked the kinda cheap HRs that Puig and JT hit last night.
Serves them right for building a new stadium, with the custom made shrunken dimensions, and seeing it work against them.

The FO knew LHP would be a problem, that's why we signed as many LHP's as we could.

Cubs have nasty lefty relievers but I don't think the Nats have good ones

Yup. I'll never feel confident about any playoff series but out of all the potential playoff teams, that's the one I'd want to face tbh

Puig since returning: .357, 474 OBP, 3 HR, 6 RBI, and a 1.474 OPS. Very small sample size, but he's been awesome so far

LAD's obviously owned them this year, but the Nats still employ that SOB Daniel Murphy

Embracing the role of not having to play/work everyday, many would say this role is right up his alley

    the numbers are great
but what's impressed me most is the attitude
that all out dive on hill's [would be] perfecto was an epic example
and the team seems to have embraced his efforts

    and right on cue...

Puig's mature approach is encouraging to the Los Angeles Dodgers
by Andy McCullough | Los Angeles Times — 12 hours ago

In the seventh inning of the Dodgers’ 8-2 victory Monday night, Yasiel Puig was instructed to prepare to enter the game as a pinch-hitter. What he did next encouraged Manager Dave Roberts and reiterated Puig’s importance to the Dodgers against left-handed pitching.

Puig went into the indoor batting cage and warmed up. So he was ready when the eighth inning came and he needed to face left-hander James Pazos. Puig hit a solo home run to increase the Dodgers’ lead.

“Yasiel has continued to grow as a baseball player, as a teammate, as a man,” Roberts said. “For him to be ready when called upon off the bench and be anxious to help his team win, that’s outstanding. And I know that his teammates see that. The ultimate thing is you want the respect of your teammates.”

With Josh Reddick’s batting average rising, Puig probably won’t start in right field against right-handed pitchers. But the team will continue to rely on him against left-handers and he could see more time in left field. Roberts plans to start him in left later this series.

Puig did not magnify the moment. He took the instruction from the coaching staff and went to work.

“They let me know I was coming up to bat,” Puig said through an interpreter. “I got ready in the cage. And the home run went out to right field.”
