Eh, im not putting much stock in that. The Twins website even posted that it was an individuals claim and not anything they were reporting.

Well if Jensen is out then signing Turner and trading for Dozier should not be a problem. I'll take both!!

I'd rather keep JDL than Verdugo but I don't care I'd trade either for Dozier

Losing the pick, plus if they want to get under the luxury tax in 2018 so they are setup for the 2018-19 free agent class, then a higher AAV wouldn't make sense.

Fowler to the Cardinals. That should make the NL Central a little more fun.

You attempt to make a point with all the financial logic, ( or what you and some others think is logic), then with your last sentence, you unmake it.
And that sentence, in it's simple point about illusions, or having none, is what could be just another reason why we fail, as usual. You can't close games out on a consistent basis with illusions...or smoke and mirrors, either.
You need the guy there that is a proven commodity...like Jansen.
All you " don't give Jansen the money because you don't dump it all on one player, blah, blah" people don't know any more about what's right for the team in putting together a winner than anyone else does, including the FO.

The farm is loaded with pitching right now and Verdugo is very different from the other top hitting OF prospects in the system(doesn't strike out). I'd like to see both Verdugo and Bellinger make it someday as Alex could be a good tablesetter for Cody and Seager.... be even better if Calhoun could figure out 2B. I'm ok with them trading JDL, just I hope his value is not somewhat diminished.

Wow...this is douchier than usual...nice logic with the "money was locked up on players instead of diversifying assets"...lol. And complaining about losing on the playoffs again, if you say "it's not our money"? What only people that think like you or agree with you can complain? This is funny, Rube...and so oddly elitist.
Is your definition of "overpayed players" like mine? Because mine encompasses multiple diversely spent assets on most of our starting staff, or what they thought would be. Insyead of throwing it at Greinke. They are overpaid players, too. In fact, if they suck and go on the DL, they are worse than a guy who gets a lot of money you don't like. We got lots.
Of course, I imagine you won't admit that, but that money hurts just as much as it does if only spent on only one guy...if that's the point you're making.
You mean like spending on a bunch of previously injured pitchers that can't go more than five innings? How many did we have? That kind of diversification of assets ?
Talk about bloated useless contracts and players...can't even trade 'em.
Or maybe we can, to some asshole team.

Yeah, that's right...I forgot...anyone who disagrees with you doesn't have an idea about the world or doesn't get the point, or know the way it really is...how many posters have you told that to lately? Besides me and Craig?
And what's the Ensure remark about?

Just to keep things in perspective...

the Dodgers' team payroll the past 3 years was $160 million higher than the #2 team in the league, and that's before luxury tax hits which move that figure well over $200 million. Also worth noting that the #2 team's payroll was $50 million higher than the #3 team in the past 3 years.

Does our team really have the financial power to spend 30% more than the team with the biggest market in the country year after year? I mean, when we insinuate our FO is "cheap" it's all relative, no?

Lol just read on dodgerblue.com that Kenley asked the Dodgers for 8/150..

    Here's a quote:

Sources with knowledge of the negotiations said the Dodgers began with an offer of four years and $55 million, a record average annual value for a closer. Jansen’s counter-offer? Eight years, $150 million.

Well, their duct taped and glass made roto certainly doesn't make them smart......

and depth - schmepth.... had they not wasted so much Cueto money on the three headed monster AKA MehKazerson, Beachy, Olivera and others, while paying Kemp to hit 30+ and 100+, again and for someone else, they wouldn't have needed nearly as much of it.

    FUCKTARDS!

    Kemp sucks man. Come on.

Im with you on Kaz and Mccarthy. They were bad signings. And although I didn't initially want Cueto, I've changed my stance and wish we would've signed him.

Matt Kemp is atrocious. Dee Gordon has had 1.5 good years as a pro. If they were so good they would've got us past the first round of the playoffs when they were here.

No you are just a constant redass not willing to discuss in a civil way anything that is contrary to your established "beliefs". You are just a tiresome predictable bore and a complete waste of any logical discussion of anything....even something that is supposed to be enjoyable as baseball talk with fellow Dodger fans.

It's people like you that make peopke like me just want to stay off boards like this because you'd rather say shit rather than just say "I agree to disagree."

And FYI, the Ensure remark was because you decided to insult rather than debate, like some geriatric guy stuck in some NYC timelock from the 50's. And I'm probably sure some kind of fermented beverage is a part of that diet the way you go off at any perceived slight.

My comment about Kenley wasnt even directed to you or meant to insult your perceive, and mistaken, intelligence....but you spewed you vitriol for no reason.

So I'm out until the season starts.....this bullshit is not worth spending time on.

The only thing I care about is that the Dodgers finally be what the Dodgers used to be about. Winning.
