The evil Boras is the one who whisked Beltre away to Seattle.

    Fuck him.

The club will likely bring him up when he is about ready, but he does need a couple hundred AB's in AAA first. Also, our FO is not going to be bullied like Boras likes to do. There is enough depth at the positions that Bellinger plays that they can legitimately say, "we are keeping him in MiLB until we absolutely need him." Honestly, the best thing for the club is to not even have a need for him this year until Sept call ups.

Imma say fuck LAD ownership for not paying up back then
PD can take some blame too

That's pretty much the most Boras can do and I wouldn't hate it if he tried because if he's trying to bully then it more than likely means the player is living up to the hype and deserves the consideration.
If Bellinger played for a small market team and I were a fan of that club, then I'd hate it of course..the more cheap labor, the better in that instance.
Just comes down to the club for me.
The Cubs making a big deal out of controlling Bryant's clock a couple years back when he was the best option they had at multiple spots in the bigs..didn't really get all that fuss.

just watched some highlights of him at vandy
i know it sounds cliche, but the kid really looks like a pitcher
pretty solid mechanics and a fairly compact delivery
looks like he has a +fastball, curve and change
i'm pretty excited to see how this kid develops
wouldn't be all that surprised to see him [ultimately] being the best of our pitching prospects

He was a front of the rotation type pitcher, then he pitched hurt his last year and fell in the draft. The reason so many people shot him up prospect reports with such a small sample size was that if the velocity is anywhere near where it was from his outings last season, he has the other stuff to be dominant.

Calhoun has apparently been doing a ton of extra IF work and conditioning to get him going at 2B. Should see some game action soon. It's a good sign that the team is doing this as it means that they really see something.

FanGraphs KATOH and KATOH+ Top 100 prospects came out today. I have no fucking clue what these metrics are, but here you go anyway. They also favor position players over pitchers and do not take into account "prospect pedigree"
    KATOH+
    Bellinger 9
    Verdugo 27
    Calhoun 57
    Toles 65
    Ruiz 76
    Alvarez 93
    Barnes 95
    Stewart 100

    KATOH (scouting the stat line?)
    Bellinger 9
    Verdugo 16
    Rios 26
    Toles 42
    Calhoun 50
    Diaz 92
    Barnes 97
    Ruiz 99
    Stewart 100

For fun, here's a couple videos from the 2007 Little League World Series. Everyone should recognize one of the kids.

Nothing about if he is looking good or not, but the team is really trying to make Calhoun serviceable at 2B(with no current plans to make him an OF'er). Bellinger is a big piece of the future puzzle to pair with Seager in the 3-4 slot, but getting Calhoun to a point where he can play 2B everyday may be a turning point for this organization becoming a legit juggernaut year in and year out for the next decade. That could be three 30+ HR bats in the IF alone where he could be a valuable table setter with his high contact bat, or even a 5 hole hitter in the event Verdugo were to man the two hole. He is a top 100 prospect for his bat alone and seen as a 5'8" DH which that height also hurts long term value(just shows how valuable many see that bat of being). If it were to click where he becomes a prime Jeff Kent type fielder of just making the regular plays, his bat has the potential to carry him to be a 4+ WAR player. really, Really, REALLY hoping this kid can put it all together as he is a type of bat that becomes so much more valuable in the playoffs. It is why I am high on Verdugo as well. The playoffs are the ultimate small sample size and teams with the success in recent years have been ones that just do a good job of putting the ball in play. Both AV and WC do a great job of doing just that and both have a tendency to make hard contact when they do. With higher K guys like Seager and Bellinger, having these guys around them could make for a long term formidable lineup ala early 2000 Phillies. Fingers crossed this all works out.
