    Matt Moreno/Dodger Blue:
"There have been glimpses of an improved focus and approach at the plate by Puig, but also the same bad habits that have plagued him over the past two seasons. Such was the case Thursday in back-to-back at-bats, when Puig worked a lengthy at-bat to hit an RBI single, then swung at multiple pitches well out of the zone in his next trip to the plate."

    in other words
after all this time, all the requests from management, the demotion
this dumbfuck still hasn't learned shit

I loved the ballsy signings of Turner, Kenley and Hill...Best FO moves flat out for me.
But I just have a feeling about Hill...Idk if he will be what he was last year, for a very short time.
    I hope so.

If he's as good as they think, taken out of an extremely pitcher friendly Trop and also placed atop a much better lineup, he should thrive.
Wouldn't shock me 1 bit if Forsythe were in this year's ASG
There's Murphy and there's Zobrist, and after that Forsythe is probably the next in line in the NL @ that position
Position is a little more stacked in the AL

Gonna see if he can learn to spell the names " V-e-r-d-u-g-o " and " T-h-o-m-p-s-o-n " soon enough.

    Kazmir makes Cactus League return
by Jared Massey | Dodger Blue — 6 minutes ago

After nearly three weeks, Scott Kazmir returns to the Los Angeles Dodgers after missing time while working on his mechanics and also dealing with a hip injury. He’ll take on Cole Hamels and the Texas Rangers at Surprise Stadium.

Sunday’s matchup marks the Dodgers’ second game against the Rangers on the road in the past three days. Kazmir, the presumptive fourth starter entering the spring, had thrown one inning in his second start before being removed from the game with a hip tightness.

After an MRI came back negative, he was shut down for a week. One week later, he threw a simulated game and came out of it sound. However, a second simulated game had Dodgers manager Dave Roberts worried as the southpaw threw his fastball at just 82-84 mph.

Kazmir’s velocity today could determine whether he begins the season in the rotation or on the disabled list.

Hamels has made just two starts this spring with the Rangers, the first of which coming against the Dodgers. On March 11, he surrendered four earned runs to the Dodgers while recording just a single out.

Yasiel Puig and Franklin Gutierrez each took the veteran lefty deep, and both are in Sunday’s lineup. Hamels has made just one start since on the Major League side, allowing one earned run in four innings against the Chicago White Sox.

Justin Turner added his third homer of the spring on Saturday, raising his Spring Training on-base plus slugging percentage to 1.307. Chris Taylor added a pair of hits, including a triple, and is now batting .432. He starts in center field.

    Dodgers lineup:
    2B: Logan Forsythe
    SS: Kiké Hernandez
    3B: Justin Turner
    LF: Franklin Gutierrez
    C: Yasmani Grandal
    DH: Yasiel Puig
    1B: Scott Van Slyke
    RF: Trayce Thompson
    CF: Chris Taylor
    P: Scott Kazmir

I think it's really so Grandal can practice situational hitting - since Grandal has to approach his ABs as if the pitcher was on deck.

I actually do feel like he looks slimmed down and more agile. Still a pretty useless player though.

    • Scott Kazmir on Sunday threw 66 pitches in his three innings, with as many balls as strikes. Among his 18 batters faced, Kazmir walked five, hit two others, and allowed a home run. He allowed three runs. He reached 87 mph on two pitches Sunday, topping out at 87.4 mph.
5 walks and 2 hbp in a week would be an accomplishment
kazmir did it in 3 innings
    now that's impressive

    • “We’re going to have a discussion over the next day or two to see what’s best for Scott and what’s best for us,” Roberts said.
what's best for the team is that he never wears a dodger uniform again
    ever
not even for an oldtimers game
what's best for him... who cares?
he's still owed $35.3MM that he'll never come anywhere close to earning

    just in...

per Bill Plunkett of the O.C. Register:
“Where [Kazmir] is at right now it just doesn’t make sense, just competitively where he is at right now, for him to be out there on a major-league field.”
