Not that it matters in any way, my cousin worked with the team for a while back when they were around and went to each of Piazza and Karros' houses to do some work with them. According to him, the rumors were very much true.

    Keith law on our draft

Jeren Kendall (1) came into the year as a potential first overall pick, but he struggled with contact, and as scouts bore down on him they came away disliking his swing, which doesn't use his lower half at all. He struck out 74 times this year, his highest total at Vanderbilt, giving him 196 in his Commodores career. He's also a 70 runner and plus defender in center and still has raw power even without using his legs like most power hitters do. It's a swing overhaul situation, but the upside here makes him a perfect pick at 23rd overall.

Morgan Cooper (2) is a fourth-year junior at Texas, redshirting one year because of Tommy John surgery. He pitches at 93-95 mph with a big downhill plane but needs a better breaking ball to profile as a mid-rotation starter rather than a back-end one. University of Houston catcher Connor Wong (3) has soft hands but is undersized for a catcher, leading to questions about his durability; he played shortstop as a freshman and has played third and the outfield. He's a slightly above-average runner and looks agile enough for second base. He has had low BABIPs throughout his career, outside of a strong summer on the Cape last year; that last bit might be why he ended up in the third round, and you could squint and see an Austin Barnes profile here.

Florida high school right-hander James Marinan (4) made my top 60 on the strength of a few outings where he started bumping up into the mid- to upper-90s, reaching 97 mph by a couple of reports; he has a good curveball, a workable delivery and a very projectable frame. Utah right-hander Riley Ottesen (5) didn't have great results this year but throws 90-92 along with an average slider, and his delivery looks like it'll work if he stays a starter. Wills Montgomerie (6) will sit at 93-95 mph as a starter, which goes with a below-average curveball and below-average command. Zach Pop (7), who I truly hope doesn't have a sister named Jen, sits 95-96 and touches higher but doesn't throw a lot of strikes. He comes across his body, and the delivery is all arm, so I fear for his shoulder.

Remodeling my house and was doing demo on my old tile all day, although I had the draft on in the background.
