It is not a baseball thing.
    It is a society thing.
When adults get pampered to the point of being made into children we should not be amazed when they throw tantrums and eventually want to run the playground. That's when its time to pound sand.

Small thing from yesterday: Dave had great confidence in Yasiel yesterday to make contact on a good pitch on 3-2 because he had Barnes running on the pitch. Barnes has solid speed and that reliever wasn't too fast to the plate, but you gotta have some confidence in your hitter to start the runner or else you're risking losing the game in pathetic fashion with a strike em out, throw em out

I was actually surprised they didn't run Barnes earlier in the count. Moving the winning run into scoring position and out of double play territory would have been huge. It didn't look like they were doing a lot to hold him at 1st, and with the runner at 3rd there's a good chance they don't even throw. If they do make a throw now you just need a bad throw or kicked ball to tie.

Running Barnes with a full count seemed like a no-brainer to me, although I suppose a lot of managers would have played it conservative. My biggest worry wasn't a strike em out throw em out (in part because the pitcher was trying to pitch low on Puig), but a line drive right at an infielder leaving Barnes as an easy double play.

Sorry, I was up early yesterday, had to catch an 8:30 flight from Vegas to Long Beach, so I went to bed early.

    Keep winning series.

    i agree
but i don't think it was small
he let's guys go up there and battle
when cody came to the plate my thought was "why don't you let kiké hit and [then] have hit for forsythe?"
but then cody singles (an amazing job on that pitch w/2 strikes btw), and then logan comes through
that was the moment i first thought, "holy shit, we're gonna come back again aren't we?"
when barnes singled i was screaming at the tv "don't you fucken send him!!!"
but a great job by woodward reading the play and not getting overwhelmed by the moment
    as for puig...
quite simply, the greatest single at bat i've ever seen him have
he really battled up there and fouled off two very tough pitches
when he smoked that ball and i saw barnes hitting 2nd, I jumped up
great call by roberts having barnes run -- he probably doesn't score if he's not
and tbh... i'm not sure i would have sent him
but that's what makes this year -- this ride -- so amazing...
the guys don't think about losing
    and it starts with roberts...
he wasn't thinking about leaving the tying run stranded 90 feet away
he was thinking how do we get barnes home from 1st
part of me wishes the postseason would start tomorrow so we could get to it already
but i'm also looking forward to the magic between now and then

A lot of that reflects how Roberts played the game.

Not every old man fits the template in your mind, I guess. Or the windmills.
    No diabetes here.

Oh yeah, i forgot what im supposed to do every time I make a joke with you.
Bluezoo, that was a joke, an attempt at good natured levity, an olive branch in the spirit of the Dodgers winning. Not about your diabetus, I dont think you have diabetus. But diabetus in itself is funny.
Specially when you say it diabetus instead of the boring diabetes.
There was no barb thrown, on the contrary I deleted the rest of the joke out of consideration that you might misconstrue it as a barb at your age.
    Which you did anyway.
    Which I should have known.
Because I dont remember a time when I have been able to respond to one of your posts like I do anyone elses without you thinking im out to get you.
I guarantee that If I say the same thing to Diablo, Darth, Cap or any of the other old fuckers in here that all of them would get the joke, laugh, and understand I was being a friend and not an enemy.

Guess I have trouble with your comedy stylings and I am totally humorless.
Especially when it comes to that hilarious diabetic neuropathy. That old nugget.
It's odd that most of the time you are going at me for thinking wrongly, writing incorrectly, not responding the way you think I should, not feeling the way you say I should, etc, etc. You relentlessly pick at me and you think that illicits a feeling of friendship? Oh I forgot, it's never personal with you.
That joke I get. And, impossible I know, but maybe you are missing the joke
Then you come up with your neuropathy thing, and now I didn't get that you are a "friend", your next complaint about me.
I'm sure Darth, Cap, Devil or any of the "other old fuckers" would appreciate it so roundly as you say, so why waste your time with me?
Based on most of your responses to my stuff, over quite a long time, what I think, or feel, or opine about isn't valid anyway. You don't even meet me halfway. Zero.
When I have an alert ( quote) from you, 90% of the time, I know it's you telling me how wrong I am about something- whatever...that gets real tedious,"friend".
Of course, the chance of you accepting that are nil. It must be BZ.
    So why bother?

But it was a joke. Not a joke at your or anyones expense, not even old people or people with diabetus.
And not a 'joke' but just a funny reference, a meme that we all probably remember, so i figured.
When you share something amusing with another person for fun it is being friendly Blue.
You can be friendly with people you dont know, with people even that you dont like, even with people you constantly argue with.
Specially in a situation like last night after such a win.
That is being friendly, all it is. It doesnt mean that im trying to be your best friend.

It wasnt picking on you, nobody picks on you bluezoo. You think people pick on you, that is weird.
You take this stuff too weirdly.
Like how now you are on some weird trip because i used the term friendly in my post.
My original post was supremely benign and congratulatory
I said 'great post' without any sarcasm, I genuinely liked your post. Then made a quick reference to Chris Matthews 'thrill up my leg' comment that everyone riffed on here back when Obama was winning and democrats felt like fans of the 2017 Dodgers.
That was the connection/joke/spirit of my post. That no matter if we sometimes disagree it is great to see us all enjoying the victories of our favorite team. Even so far as to being giddy like chris matthews.
And when you responded with the sciatic inflammation line I honestly thought you were rolling with the good nature in a positive way.
I did not take your response as anything but good nature like my post.
And my reply continued that same thread.
Here I thought we could have a genuine fun back and forth like normal humans in light of the great win we just had.
There was no malice in the neuropathy comment. I have it in my left leg really bad around my hip area and down. It sucks.

    So funny.

Not kidding, but I was watching the video of Puig's game winner and the ensuing celebration. Happened to pause it perfectly with Kike pressed up against the backside of a teammate (maybe Wood?). His face was on the teammate's back, his hands on the guy's hips. It was classic. I took a screenshot and tried to post it but couldn't figure out how.

Love him or hate him, there's never a dull moment with that guy.

With Kike's ongoing finook shenanigans and Puigs public displays of man love what's next, community testicle tanning?

    wait, WHAT?????

Which brings up another important question: How would Trump read Kike off a teleprompter??? :D :D

If he was capable, Joc should have taken notes on Bellinger and Puig's final ABs Wed night.

Bellinger shortens up with two strikes and pokes (no homo) it into left center. Puig shows plate discipline, spoiling some marginal pitches before pouncing on a mistake for the game winning double.

It's his third full year in the big leagues and it's not like he doesn't have the talent. He just doesn't have the aptitude (at least so far).
