If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

He’s been worth 1.6 wins the last 5 seasons. Not averaged 1.6, 1.6 total. If he didn’t have an $160 million contract he’d be home on his couch

Of course Kemp is going to get a chance to be the starting LF, and it is 99% because of his salary. That being said, what does MGT have to lose. They already saved $$ by shipping McCarthy/Kazmir/Gonzo out so at this point ANY production from Kemp is a bonus. Also IF MGT catches lightning in the bottle and Kemp is batting any where close to 250 with 15 hr by the allstar break, they got a chance to move him at the trade deadline. Bottom line MGT is going to do anything they can to get Kemp back on track and showcase him.

If Kemp's defense could not be terrible (not likely), why not? BR projects his triple slash at .262/.309/.464 in 501 PAs.

    Zips: .265/.306/.465

    Steamer: .264/.313/.469

We’ll all be laughing about this when Kemp is crushing it and locked into the #5 lineup spot.

I'd like to swap him for Braun yesterday.
Camello needs to stop covering the Lakers and find out where we stand on the Braun thing.

I am not a Kemp fan but I understand why he will play. We need value to trade him. But if the nerds and Roberts gave Granderson a shot which was a total blows ads player. Kemp should get his try out.

Problem with giving Kemp a shot over Joc, Toles, and Verdugo is that Kemp has the least amount of upside amongst all those players. All 3 of those guys are considerably better defenders and I could easily argue that their offense has more upside. Shit, I wouldn’t disagree on saying Enrique and Kemp are close.

Look, I’d love Matt Kemp to tear it up cause I can be a sucker for nostalgia. But, he’s probably better suited as a bench bat to let it fly once a day at the dish.

In regards to Kemp, the beginning of the year is going to be more about roster management than minor roster optimization. If it was a choice between playing Taylor or Kemp, then Kemp would be out... but it’s between Kemp or Toles/Joc/Verdugo. If Kemp is a drop off from those 3 then it’s minor and worth seeing what we have in Kemp. But the biggest thing is who has options and who doesn’t, and in April it’s worth delaying big decisions like DFAing someone.

Why does Wikipedia describe Alex Verdugo as an "American-born Mexican baseball player"?

Just seems weird considering Adrian Gonzalez (who was also born in the U.S.) is described correctly as an "American baseball player".

Both were born in the U.S.

    Am I missing something?

    Racist but genuinely curious.
