Now, here's a series. Both teams a game under .500 and looking for that launching point. We see what's really what against Scherzer and Stras

I'm positive on the outside, but inside I know how this plays out. Let's just say our pitching needs to be on this weekend.

Scherzer is on fucking fire..I'm sure he's ready to smoke Kershaw tonight [ no homo]. Seems he's about ready to get out of Kershaw's shadow as the top dog in the NL..with 3 Cy Young awards to his own name, he's due. Stras' Ks are down early..LAD may be catching him at the right time, but on the other hand, he could very well use LAD to get himself right. Obviously, LAD has struggled against much worse thus far. Will be interesting to see who steps up and who doesn't

Scherzer is 0-4 in his last 6 postseason starts.
Kershaw is the best pitcher of this generation and currently also and it still isn’t close. Kershaw would be a 6 time Cy young winner if RA Dickey didn’t get touched as a child and Kershaw was healthy the last two years (he still should’ve won in 2016)

    okay
don't have as much (any, actually) free time as i used to
but at the request of thinkblue, i'll do a belated write-up
forgive any typos/errors... too lazy to go back

    GAME 1
    Scherzer vs. Kershaw

    PREDICTION:
Great pitching matchup that lives up to the hype. Scherzer and Kershaw are both magnificent through eight (shutout) innings — Max with 17 k’s, Kersh taking a no-no into the 9th. But when Kersh walks Matt Wieters to begin the 9th, Roberts inexplicably goes to the pen… ensuring that Clayton (for better or worse) will exercise his option after the season. Baez comes in and quickly walks the bases loaded on 8 pitches. Roberts then calls on Jansen, who immediately gives up back-to-back-to-back bombs to Rendon, Harper and Zimmerman. Roberts comes (back) out to the mound, but instead of pulling Jansen he decides to give him a pep talk (instead). Brilliant call. Sometimes all a struggling reliever/closer needs is a little “attaboy” (racist) or “you’re our guy” to get them back on track and turn the entire team’s fortune around in one fell swoop. Kenley suddenly has a different, more focused look… and then he allows the next 11 batters to reach base without retiring anyone. Before the inning is over it’s 18-0. Doolittle retires the side in order in the bottom of the 9th on three pitches (none of them strikes). Nats 18, Dodgers 0.

    AFTER THE GAME:
Roberts defends leaving Jansen in despite the meltdown. “He pitched really well out there, but was just a bit unlucky.” When Backstage Dodgers Concubine Alana Rizzo points out that Jansen had no swing and misses and his fastest pitch was 87mph, Roberts storms out of the press conference.

    -------------------------
    GAME 2
    Strasburg vs. Ryu

    PREDICTION:
Strasberg is on the ropes all night. 8 walks, 12 hits but somehow doesn’t give up a run thanks mainly to selfish/undisciplined at bats by Corey, Cody and Joc. Ryu pitches extremely well but gives up an unearned run in the 7th when Roberts (for whatever reason) puts GrandMal at 2B, and he commits five errors on one play — setting an MLB record. Stripling, Cingrani and Fields are perfect in relief, but the damage is done. Nats 1, Dodgers 0.

    AFTER THE GAME:
Roberts tells reporters the reason he put Grandal at 2B was to steal signs from the catcher, the ever ready Rizzo responds, “Steal signs??? You do realize that YOUR team was on the field and not at bat, right?!!!” Roberts then storms out of the postgame presser for a second consecutive night.

    -------------------------
    GAME 3
    Hellickson vs. Wood

    ***BEFORE THE GAME***
Wood suffers a yeast infection warming up in the bullpen before the game. Not sure what to do (shocker), Roberts asks the head umpire Angel Hernandez to review the play. This allows mercurial and incompetent ump a rare opportunity to actually be right about something, and he quickly responds “What play??? The game hasn’t started yet!!! Are you fucken retarded?!!!” Roberts then throws a tantrum and is immediately tossed (no salad). Geren, the de facto manager, is also thrown out so Roberts appoints Utley manager for the remainder of the game. Chase (ever the ambassador) politely asks Hernandez if he can change the entire Dodger starting lineup. Even though this is absolutely forbidden since the lineup cards were already exchanged, Hernandez (incorrectly, as usual) allows it. Nats’ manager Dave Martinez thinks about coming out and arguing, but decides to just scratch his balls instead.

    PREDICTION:
Utley’s new lineup has himself at 2B, Corey at 3B, Kiké at SS, Farmer at 1B, Barnes catching, and Cody/Taylor/Puig in the outfield. When Bellinger complains about being moved off 1B, Utley punches him in the face and replaces him with Kemp. Seeing this, the rest of the team cowers and quickly falls into line. And, for whatever reason, it all works. The Dodger offense, suddenly motivated, scores early and often against Hellickson. Utley puts Baez on the bump and the lump of shit allows a mere three runs through six innings. An uneventful 7th and 8th for both teams, and the Dodgers take a 9-3 lead to the 9th. Utley receives his first catcalls from the crowd when he brings in Jansen for the 9th. But he has an idea. The Bruin alum conjures his inner “Major League 2” and instructs the beleaguered closer to recite captions from the Victoria’s Secret catalog to change his focus. Kenley retires the side in order, hitting 96mph twice. Dodgers 9, Nationals 3.

    AFTER THE GAME:
Roberts tells reporters Hernandez was out of line and that he plans to file a complaint with the commissioner’s office. When the ubiquitous Rizzo correctly states that he is 100% wrong and (thus) has no ground to file a grievance, Roberts finally snaps. “Look you fucken whore!!! This isn’t knitting or book club — this is baseball!!! MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL!!! Roberts then gets up, flips off everyone, and screams “Konichiwa bitches!!!” But before he can exit the room, Rizzo responds “Wow, racist!” Roberts stops in his tracks, turns to Rizzo and exclaims “You do realize I’m half-Japanese, don’t you?!!! And yes, that’s rhetorical you stupid, ignorant, talentless, whoremonger bkitch!!!!” Rizzo says nothing, walks over to Roberts, and kicks him in the nads with her steel tipped boots. The entire press corps stands and politely issues Rizzo a contrived (but genuine) golf clap.

    -------------------------
    CONCLUSION:
Roberts is demoted to manage rookie league and the Dodgers schedule a press conference so he can publicly apologize to Rizzo. No one (including Rizzo) cares, no one attends. The team schedules another press conference to announce Utley as player/manager. The ever-serious Utley announces that he has suspended Bellinger for 10 days for being “a little fucken bitch”. When asked about Roberts demotion, Chase says “it’s tough to see a fellow Bruin go through this. But my sadness is reduced by the excitement of me being named manager. When a reporter named THINKBLUE from DSP asks Chase why he thinks Roberts was penalized so severely, Utley pauses briefly and then replies “Well, he is half-black.” The DSP reporter says nothing, but a smile lights up his face. CHASE UTLEY… winning fans one at a time.

Kershaw, 4.35 ERA in 122 post season innings

From what I heard, it's not a blister. His nail got fucked up. He's apparently mad they don't want him pitching, but hey, what can you do?

Yep, Scherzer is still peaking. He maybe has until 2020 before we see cracks, which is pretty good for a guy that's 33. He obviously hasn't pitched as many innings or thrown as many official pitches as most work horse types at his age, but innings/pitch counts aren't the be all/end all. I mean they are certainly a part of it, but of course these guys still throw and work daily and at 33 he's done quite a bit of throwing.

He'll be hitting the 2,000 career innings mark this season, but he also spent the early part of his career with terrible head/neck action in his delivery that could have and maybe did do some long term damage. May not even be 2020 when we see the cracks in Scherzer..may be next year. But as of right now he can lay claim to the throne..he did go over to the AL and baffle bitches. He can say, " I've owned all of you bitches. "

That 100% fastball rate on the first pitch is not aging well
