Yo but that was a shot. I almost got in a fight with a guy in a Pedro jersey celebrating that when he said fuck the Dodgers and I said what’s it matter if you finish in 4th or 5th place sit down

With an impressive .310 OBP and .220 BA. Then divide that by 2 in the post

Looking at the review of last night's MLB action...and one thing comes to mind, overwhelmingly: CAN ANYONE BEAT THE YANKEES ??
I mean realistically, assuming all things remain at status quo, is there a team, however hot they may get, that stops that lineup?
    Monsters, flat out monsters.
May, and probably will, exceed our win total of last year.
Last year they were dismissed on here out of hand, " that no one is afraid of the Yankees".
    How about his year?

The Yankees are great, but so are the Red Sox and the Astros are probably better than them both so far. Hopefully they beat each other up and get swept by us in the end.

That is all a possibilty, I agree. Except for the last part of the last sentence.
Unless things change dramatically, we are not even in the same neighborhood as they are. Our "ex" heroes are old and injured...and worst of all, maybe fat. Gulp.
But whatever fate does have in store for us I will always remember this season as the one we came in under the tax cap. And didn't spend like those other jerks...
    Oh, what a feeling !

I think it’s gonna come down to Kershaw and Turner. If they find themselves I think we’ll have a good chance, especially since the NL is down this year. Chicago and Arizona might be the two scariest teams in my eyes. We also have pieces to move at the deadline, and I think our bullpen is gonna be great in the postseason with Maeda, potentially Buehler and Kenley.

Kershaw will get thoroughly outperformed by deGrom today, and we will suffer a humiliation at the hands of the Mets

Dodgers vs Yankees is how it should be. With the Yankees as the big monsters and the Dodgers as the shepherd with the sling. Comparatively speaking.

I suppose there are quite a few who remember 1981...I remember when it seemed like us against them...every single year, when I was a kid. Like no one else even existed, or even had a chance. Maybe because no one else really did matter.
Not for me and my crew anyway.
You were one or the other.
If, by some little chance, you were one of the odd balls who did like another, people just tolerated you and felt maybe a little sorry for you, fully knowing their support was misplaced and futile.
That is how it was in my childhood.
Now I am old, and to be a Dodger fan all these days, is not misplaced, as I always will be.
    But it does feel futile...sadly.

I'll feel better about this offense when they start to string together some line drives and gappers. Still much too dependent on the bomb.

Only had 5 hits last night. Winning rally was two BBs, a bloop hit by Kemp and the Belli bomb.

Looks like Kemp (slumping slightly) is getting the night off and the Utley Monster is being unleashed on NYC.

Whether people want to believe it or not, this team could be much more dangerous with its pitching than it was a year ago (IF WE CAN GET HEALTHY) and that is king in the playoffs. I think we are basically subbing Darvish for Stripling in that we don't know what we are getting out of the guy, but it could be really good, or really bad(Stripling has not been bad, it is just more of a "what could happen?" scenario). Kershaw is probably the same pitcher that he was last year, if not a little worse, which in the playoffs has resulted in bupkiss anyway. One positive change is that a healthy Hill is probably our Game 4 starter rather than game 2 at this point. The biggest thing that could help this team pass the hurdle is that in my mind, we have that guy that could be the leader of a championship staff and has the stuff to be dangerously overpowering in Walker Buehler. He was pitching through a broken rib and still mowing dudes down, has looked better with every start, he was an ace of a national championship team and he's basically a Greinke mentality(minus the personality disorder) with a pre-prime Lincecum repertoire. If this staff can be healthy come playoff time(BIG IF), they will have 4 starters completely capable of taking over a game. There is potential there for starters that can work deeper in games and if by chance Stripling is this guy for the rest of the season, that will certainly be something that we did not have a year ago.

Next you can point to our bullpen being shit and I would certainly not disagree... however, even though the numbers were great last year, we were still all saying the same thing at this time of the season. The luck of the minors brought us Morrow, but at this point he had given us all of 8 innings of relief. Watson and Cingrani were not yet acquired, Josh Fields was on the DL with worse numbers than this year and second most reliable BP arm was Pedro Baez, pre-epic meltdown. After the rough start to this season, things have started to come together in the pen. Jansen has seemingly come out of the funk he was in, Scott Alexander has started to find the bottom of the strike zone and only seems to get fucked by the defense behind him at this point, Erik Goeddel is a valuable MR guy as is Josh Fields and we may have found a valuable LOOGY in Edward Paredes who has just killed lefties this year. This is not me clamouring that the BP is fine, it certainly is not, but compared to this point last season, the pen looks much more formidable going into the deadline where 1-2 good arms in there could really shorten a ballgame(also, Cingrani getting healthy would be nice...).

The point of all this is, this team is not a finished product, but compared to that amazing team from last year that fell one game short, the pitching of this year's club has the potential to be much more dangerous.... and sometimes to win a World Series, that is all you need.

No way that is a slider, but it sure as hell looks like a late breaking cutter.
