If the Dodgers could acquire one player at the deadline, who would you prefer?

  1. Machado

    43.5%
  2. Front line starter (degrom, thor, et al)

    56.5%

Screw all of them, but especially the Astros. Red Sox vs Dodgers in the WS sounds intriguing. Darvish will screw up the Cubs somehow.

My guess for the next couple weeks: Dodgers find a way to trade away Forsythe and a reliever, they land 2 relievers on deadline day... one is a kinda exciting name we’ll have heard about, the other is a random guy

One of the simple pleasures in life in the Bay Area (and trust me, there's very little that's simple living in this overpriced hell hole, nerd, bro culture, dystopia.....I guess I have only myself to blame) is hearing the local sports radio station (KNBR) talk all kinds of smack against teams the Gnats are playing, only to hear loser whingeing, know it alls, crying on the radio about the latest Gnats loss, especially in grueling fashion.

To hear these idiots pine on about losing 2 out of 3 to the A's, screaming everything will be fine when they get Joe Panik back and Cueto and MadBum and Alphabet Soup, and they should be buyers are the deadline.....geezus, it is music to my ears.

God I hate Gnats fans....their homie radio broadcasters, and startup money fakeness. Krup, Kuipe, Miller, Flemming, and the morning Murph and Mac crew can just kiss my ass.

    - Sounds like the Astros may be closing in on a deal for Britton. They’ve supposedly made him their #1 priority at the deadline and could be willing to overpay to get him. Getting through the AL is going to be a feat.

    - The Familia trade is gathering HEAVY criticism and skepticism from around the league. The Met’s took a horrible return and seemingly rushed to put a deal together. A couple other FO’s involved in Familia talks are said to be very irritated by the way the Mets handled this situation and consesus around the league is that they would have been able to put together a much better package from other contenders had they made just one or two more calls.

    - The Mets have QUIETLY begun to gauge interest in Degrom and Thor over the last 48-72 hours and the likely outcome is that they will not be trading either until the winter at the earliest. Thor is once again out, this time with a disease and may not be off the DL before the deadline. His stock is said to be extremely low due to multiple injuries that have kept him off the field the last two years....though he looked pretty awesome last night. As for Degrom, the Mets want a return that you would expect for the best pitcher in baseball(in their eyes). Nobody is said to be anywhere CLOSE with an offer that is enticing to the Mets.

    - The Dodgers are not expected to target a starter. I think they were only linked to Fulmer as a buy low candidate.

    - Zack Wheeler is likely to be the biggest named starter that is moved from the Mets and it is rumored that they may have some offers that they like for him.

    - The A’s are going to be an interesting team to watch the next week+ if they falter at all in their series against the Rangers and Rockies, they could quickly pivot to seller where Familia is right back on the market.

    - Start paying attention to what the Dodgers are doing with their pitchers in MiLB. Alvarez has definitely been transitioned to a pen role. Daniel Corcino also came out of the pen tonight after being a starter prior. Stetson Allie was inexplicably promoted to AA a week or two back where he struggled early, but has been really really good his last 6 outings. Said to work in triple digits with a wipeout slider, has just struggled locating. Gonsolin and White are two others that could go to the pen and become intriguing Sept arms. White has a low 90’s cutter/slider that some scouts view as a true ++ pitch, while Gonsolin can hit triple digits and possesses fringy secondaries that could play up in relief.

Everything you said... I lived it for 40+ years. This is the first year I have completely avoided their broadcasts, both because I was tired of the over-the-top homerism, and because I moved out of the Bay Area. Also I got XM radio which helps a lot.

I sort of miss hearing them stew in their misery, but it's also refreshing to not have to hear the blatant homerism.

Man the other day you said Gonsolin wasn't likely to make in through the system fast enough. It'd be great to add both he and White to the pen.

Listening to the radio earlier today one of these beat writer guys was saying he was hearing that LAD was pushing Fat Joc or Puig headlined deals for Degrom. That'd be wild. I guess Verdugo would get the call?

KNBR when the Giants are struggling or Mondays after 49er losses are a true joy.

That said, their coverage of Bay Area sports is vastly superior to anything in LA. ESPN 710 is abysmal.

It's the same reason I can't watch Intentional Talk anymore. First season was good but now it's become so cringey...

I still don’t think Gonsolin makes it, was just stating that he is a guy on the farm to pay attention to as his future is likely in the pen anyway. With the relief market being what it is, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Dodgers look at internal options for an impact arm.

I see a near zero percent chance that they make a move for Degrom. The Mets are going to want Buehler in any deal and I see no way in hell that the FO does that.

Man, the reliever market is kinda depressing. I was set on Barroclough from the Marlins being a great get and he had an AWFUL outing yesterday. It’s gonna take some creativity to get a great bullpen

MLB Now is the only good show and even that one can get annoying when they bring on unfunny comedians, washed up New York movie stars, and other guest panelists.

haven't watched that channel since last season
not sure who's (still) on there
i liked cliff floyd and preston wilson (racist)...
but couldn't stand idiots like reynolds, plesac, leiter and (billy) ripken
to put it in perspective, you know it's bad when eric byrnes is one of your better analysts
that said, and if for no other reason, this moment made him a fan favorite to any/everyone regardless of (team) allegiance

Floyd and Millar are the only analysts still there worth watching. Millar occasionally comes out with pretty ignorant stuff but at least he doesnt take himself too seriously like the rest of the self-important tools there do. He also has good takes on intangible baseball stuff like the stupid unwritten rules shit that teams like the vagiants cant seem to grow out of.

It was scrubbed from the internet, so I am guessing that Harold did not approve.
