I've thought on some level that Alex Wood might be the player going to a 3rd team (fringy playoff team) to facilitate Realmuto coming to LA, we all know how Friedman loves the 3-team deal.

Or to bring in a reliever, upgrade at 2B, who knows.

Also White and Gonsolin with 2019 ETA's, then there is whatever the fuck Ben Holmes has transformed into as well. So I think that Wood is as good as gone just based on depth at the #5 alone. You have Kershaw, Hill, Ryu and Buehler guaranteed spots(injuries aside) with Urias, Ferguson and Santana more than likely headed to AAA. So going into ST, battling for the 5th spot in the rotation will be Maeda, Stripling and Stewart. Based on the depth at the outset, I don't really see them making a move beyond Wood and the close to $10M he is likely to get paid. There is a lot of depth on this squad, but I think a lot of it would benefit from more time in MiLB (Urias, Ferguson and Santana) or is a question mark for where they're at (Maeda, Stewart and Stripling). Btw, for those rolling their eyes at the idea of Stewart being back as an option, he started to turn things around the last couple of months last year. Apparently (as I had guessed) he was all out of sync after the way the org had jerked him around from from starting to relieving any given day while constantly getting sent up and down. It looks like the org may have settled on him just being a starter at this point. He is probably no longer the #3 he was projected to be, but a back end of the rotation guy is definitely a possibility.

Throw Will Smith, Keibert Ruiz, Barnes, Farmer, and AJ Ellis into a revolver and try them each a week at a time until you find one that gets a hit a game. Or one who has a knack of hitting when it counts even if he usually blows.
Keep the one that gets around a hit a game and the one that has a knack for having big games when it counts like Kyle Farmer.
That is your starter and your backup.
Play the matchup game, split them up L/R and go analytics nuts with them.
Don't worry about home runs or OPS rates.
That is how our opponents keep beating us.
Look at the catchers we have gone up against.
    Journeymen.

Do you really want a star primadonna type as your catcher?
At any other position sure... but not at catcher.

They managed those bad contracts, in part, by having the biggest payroll in baseball. That's the advantage the high payroll teams have, they can screw up some contracts and still be competitive. We've been in that group for a while, but with our new commitment to a small payroll...

It will be hard for me to miss him. In a sport full of streakiness, Grandal has to be the streakiest player I've ever seen.

But if we are ever want a moment of nostalgia, I will put on a uniform, crouch behind home plate, let the pitch get past me, and then tell everyone that "baseball is hard" in my post-game interview.

Dodgers have signed Kevin Quackenbush to a MiLB deal according to his representation. Dude has not been the same since his breakout rookie campaign in 2014. Had a shitty start to 2018 and then was demoted to AAA where he was fairly dominant the rest of the season.

    • Oh my god, something finally happened! The Indians and Pirates completed a 5 player trade involving 5 players I have never heard of. BUT IT WAS SOMETHING!
    • Talks of an extension between the Dodgers and head coach Dave Roberts have reportedly stalled according to Jon Heyman. There has been no indication of about what is going on, but there are even some rumors of the two sides losing traction.
    • Another Dodgers FO member has reportedly been poached. R&D Director Doug Fearing is now on his way out as well, but did not announce where he is going. A number of reporters have spoken up since his leaving saying that this dude was pretty sharpe and a name to get ready to hear a lot more of in the coming years. This is now the second year in a row of a massive transition period in a Dodgers FO that had been generally regarded as one of the best assemblies of talent top to bottom under the construction of Andrew Friedman. There is a lot already on the FO's plate before we even start talking about the guys they put on the field and I would not be shocked if Zaidi brings a couple more with him.

Roberts probably believes he is in line for a top dollar contract and anything else would be insulting

CKWG's second bullet point is the best news I've heard/read since our second WS abject failure.

Trump should have had the CIA take Roberts out instead of just tweeting what a fucking retard he is. JFK was just fucking a few actresses, Roberts fucked an entire city, twice.

Don't know why, but the expression "like rats deserting a sinking ship" comes to mind these days.

I note today, Verlander gained 13 of 30 first-place Cy Young votes. I'm so happy we got Darvish instead.
