Pretty confident of them. May not bode well for LAD given that indication

Our FO is one that you can't really strong arm into getting a better deal out of and we are fairly notorious for that. It is why things come together a bit more slowly for us compared to other organizations. We don't panic and it makes dealing with Friedman and (formerly) Zaidi incredibly difficult.

My only guess is they are hoping for the Yankees or Astros to get involved since they have MLB ready guys that could help, but outside of that, they would have to diverge from their current plan. Eovaldi and Corbin going to the Astros and Yankees could actually help the Dodgers somewhat, though the Phillies could be a somewhat dangerous entry into the equation.

Sounds reasonable. If you have all the chips like LAD does, anyway.

Astros may have the advantage for Eovaldi. He's from around those parts, Nolan Ryan his hero as they're from the same town in TX. Ryan has a special role in HOU's front office, so it wouldn't shock me if HOU pulled Eovaldi in. Probably serious interest coming from his side

just to rub it in everyones face
guggs overbid by a billion and still left him making 14mil a year plus
if they develop anything out there he gets a fucking piece if not half
thats just moronic for guys who supposedly know how to make deals

Yeah, it sounds like the chances are strong for him to go to the Astros, but now the Angels are being rumored to be pursuing him pretty hard too. I would not be shocked if the Astros get him and then focus on a back-end pitcher for cheap, so that should help us out with Kluber. They have got Josh James and Forrest Whitley both probably ready by midseason, so they have depth on the way that they may not want to block.

If I am not mistaken, there were multiple bids over $1.5B with one rumored around 1.8B and most if not all were rebuffed on the parking lot inclusion. The Guggs offer was a take it or leave it. If McCourt went back to the other bidders, they were going to pull the offer and from the sounds of it, there were folks willing to go that high or higher so they sweetened the pot by splitting the parking lot. The TV deal alone made the extra however many $100M worth it in the end, I for one am incredibly thankful for this ownership taking the initiative to do what they did. The second place finisher has been in gobs of trouble with the SEC and this organization would have been immediately thrust back into turmoil within only about 1 year of them taking over.

If Magic is involved I feel a hell of a lot better about our chances simply because he usually shows up for the W.
That said, they shouldn't need him since Kasten is close to Harper and his fam
They need to get this done, Harper and Belli in the OF, I don't give a damn who joins them

Passan made it sound like Magic going could be just seeking Bryce out and seeing what he's like, but I would bet a whole shitload of money that this trip was something more than that. Like Fall said, Kasten has the relationship already with Harper, this was a recruitment trip and they brought out the big guns early. This is what Magic said he was going to do and he truthfully hadn't done it yet. Dodgers are all in on Bryce Harper

Magic isn't going to waste his time "feeling" a guy out [no homo]. His time is valuable and he's going to close the deal, bkitches.

Harper will hit .203/.340/.400 with 21 HR and 4 DL stints with the Dodgers because we cannot have nice things.

Acquiring Harper shakes up the whole roster as a position of depth, gets significantly deeper. The only thing is, I don’t think landing Harper directly means Puig is gone. Is it likely? Yes. Is it a guarantee? No. Harper has lost a few steps in the OF and would be much better suited for LF going forward(his defensive metrics agree). The team could choose to keep Puig and move Verdugo to avoid a LHH heavy OF and for that matter, team since you’d also have Seager and Muncy. Granted Puig has those reverse splits, but I’ve never truly found him useless against LHP’ing though his recent #’s would disagree. They could look to move Verdugo and maybe pair him with Kemp to jettison a bunch of money, while also moving Wood and Pederson. I would not be shocked if they weren’t looking at it like this, but for some reason I keep thinking that if they land Harper, they may want to keep Puig’s RH bat in the lineup.

Would really like to see the Dodgers address 2B and LF in a non-platoon kind of way.
