    Lots of reports of the Dodgers fading fast. They’re not giving up Verdugo or Ruiz for him and the Marlins are said to want at least one if not both.

    I'm fine with hoping that a healthy Barnes platooning with Russ will bridge us to Ruiz and/or Smith. Especially with these reports on Ruiz, I don't want to give that up for Realmuto. And we're going to need Verdugo this year. I've pretty much come to terms that Realmuto, as well as huge contracts to Harper and Machado, are not in the best interest of this team.

    I know you are referring to postseason success, but if you look at the regular season the Nationals have been one of the most successful teams since Harper came up. In the 7 seasons since Harper started, the Nats are the only team with 4 seasons of 95+ wins (the Cubs are the only other team to do it even 3 times), they are one of only 3 teams with 4+ division titles, and one of only 4 teams with a winning record every year in that span.

    I’m not saying the Nationals should be satisfied or that they didn’t come up short, but if you are going to knock Harper because of team success over the past 7 years, then that’s a pretty high bar that not many players will clear.

    Bowden this morning confirmed a couple of other reports out there that Harper now has what sounds like multiple "mystery teams" that have jumped into the mix for him along with the well reported other 4 franchises. Due to these late entries, it does not sound like this thing is close to done... Though one thing to remember are earlier reports that said the Dodgers, Cubs and potentially others told Boras to give them a call when they were getting close to a decision. So maybe that is what has finally happened. For the love of god, just end this shit.

    Bad. Really bad.

    To lastat's point, it hasn't been all Harper. There's a great cast of players around him. But the Nationals over the past 7 seasons have accomplished 10x more than the franchise had in the 40 years before that.

    Harper had a big deal to do with im sure.
    Nationals probably started to spend more once they new Harper was coming down the pike.
