The best thing for him if he is struggling right now would probably be to come to camp and be with the rest of the guys. Sometimes just being there with that support could be the most helpful tool.

Other notes from around baseball:

• Julio Urias raised A LOT of eyebrows yesterday with his performance. Roberts said that he has been the most impressive pitcher in camp this spring. That could be huge if he is back or even better than he was before. Urias has ceiling of an ace and paired with Buehler could be a 1-2 punch similar to the likes we saw when it was Kershaw and Greinke. Adding more fuel to the fire is the early talk about Dustin May as well. Pitching prospects are just that and pitching in general is volatile, but the Dodgers could have a trio of the best young pitchers in baseball.

• The Braves are in trouble early, while the talk has centered around the Dodgers and Kershaw, Atlanta has now had to sit down three pitchers that were expected to be in their rotation with Gausman and Folty being the most prominent names of the bunch, not to mention fireballer Mike Soroka as well. There were huge questions surrounding their rotation already and now this string of events could really put the org in a bind.

• Speaking of clubs with questions about their rotation, the Astros may have lost one of their top pitching prospects for a good while in Josh James. James made a name for himself when he saw his fastball just nearly 10 full MPH's in a little over a year. James was expected to anchor the back of the Astros rotation, but now the word is that they are thinking of keeping him in the bullpen once he returns. Expectations are that they may be gearing up to re-sign Dallas Keuchel after an offseason that included the loss of Charlie Morton via FA and Lance McCullers to injury. Wade Miley currently looks like their #3 until Forrest Whitley makes his much anticipated debut.

• It is rumored that Craig Kimbrel has had no suitors thus far, or at least nobody that is willing to come anywhere near his asking price. That is crazy to me, if you are a team that is rebuilding and has a low payroll, why not throw a decent contract at the dude? Like 4 years 76M? Just wait and spin him at the deadline and eat like $5M a year and get yourself some intriguing spects.

• Some belief is that if the Phillies miss on Harper, they are not likely to pivot to Keuchel or Kimbrel. Boy... if they just give up after potentially not getting Harper, that Realmuto trade could look really dumb in hindsight. Could also make for an interesting trade deadline.

• Sounds like Kershaw came out of his throwing session today feeling pretty good... soooo yay.

 

I don't know that sinking cost into a meh Keuchel or Kimbrel is the way to go for Philly. If their long game is Trout, then they're probably not going to panic and go for a Keuchel with Stras perhaps hitting the market next offseason as well as Sale, Bumgarner and Verlander

Julio Urias is the player I am most excited about this year, and by a pretty big margin. Harper would come in at a close second if we sign him, but he'd still be second.
