People open restaurants to make money so they fail quick when the money runs out. People open restaurants to make good food in an area that is lacking that type of food. If your goal is to make a lot of money you will then use your creative powers to start a restaurant and it may go well. If your goal is to use your creative powers to start a restaurant you will make enough money and it will go well. If you dont find where the demand is your supply is less effective.
Listening to this conversation of rock legends Orel and Joe, concerning the R&R HoF, why doesn't some group say " thanks, but no thanks" to induction, citing "we appreciate the thought, but we can't go in ahead of Harry Nilsson"... A classy way of saying the voters are fucking huge assholes. Should have happened years ago. Some of the names in there now, considering Nilsson isn't, are laughable and assinine. Thank you.
Mr. Rogers says: " welcome to the neighborhood, John Hinckley ...no more assassination attempts, Ok? "
Yesterday the FTC announced that they have won a court order against four separate operations that have been “bombarding consumers nationwide with billions of unwanted and illegal robocalls pitching auto warranties, debt-relief services, home security systems, fake charities, and Google search.” The FTC also went after one company that provided the software platform used to make more than one billion illegal robocalls. Some of these groups spoofed caller IDs to trick you into answering.; With the Federal Trade Commission’s victory in court, they received an order that banned the defendants from making robocalls and most telemarketing activities. The court also imposed millions of dollars in fines judgment against the groups. “We have brought dozens of cases targeting illegal robocalls, and fighting unwanted calls remains one of our highest priorities,” said Andrew Smith, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “We also have great advice on call-blocking services and how to reduce unwanted calls at www.consumer.FTC.gov.” This is not the end of robocalls but hopefully a first step to cracking down on companies who make illegal robocalls. ---------------- A drop in the bucket? Perhaps but I'll take it
Actually Bowie did, just not showing up or entering any kind of acknowledgement and the Sex pistols fully admonished them Steely dan mocked it but when you have run dmc and so many other non rock bands in there and no SRV, Doobies, the Cure on and on its just stupid
Thanks, Devil. I didn't know that...interesting. But what I really meant was refusing and mentioning Harry by name. I mean this is the guy the Beatles answered as their " favorite group" when asked the question. His music is all over the place, still being covered to this day, soundtracks to motion pictures, TV, a huge part of rock history and it's foundations. Of course, he was no Roxy Music or Janet Jackson. But I think you'll agree, you don't have to have a point to have a point...
really cool (or not) story back when i was in the cub scouts (late 60's) i won some prize that i had to go pick up from the scout hdqts. it was at devonshire downs (diablo knows the place) so my mom takes me there to pick up (what i presumed would be) some lame prize but no... it was 5 lps! in no particular order... - jefferson airplane/crown of creation - beatles/white album - src/src - the doors/waiting for the sun - harry nillson/aerial ballet i was of course already well aware of the beatles, jeffereson airplane and the doors but src and nillson were new to me so i actually ended liking them best
they're really good others good psychedelic bands from those days you may/may not know... ultimate spinach blues magoos country joe and the fish 13th floor elevators
A fine name for such a noble creature...straighter than narrow. Arrow was the designated name for my dog in my avatar, but after we rescued him, Murphy fit him so well, it just stayed. Please post a picture of Arrow when he/she joins your family.
hard to believe... she looks perfectly sane lol Bride busted for embezzling $93K for her wedding gown and a butt lift by Elise Solé | Yahoo Lifestyle — 28 March 2019 A soon-to-be bride who embezzled $93K to pay for her wedding dress — and a butt lift — was caught by police. According to a press release sent to Yahoo Lifestyle by the Stafford County Sherrif’s Office in Virginia, Vanessa Cline, 32, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly charging $93K on a credit card issued to her employer No Limits Construction in Fredericksburg, where she was a bookkeeper. Detectives investigated Cline on March 12 after a credit card agency threatened to close the No-Limits business account for nonpayment. The owner then found the personal transactions: a $2,000 bridal gown, a $25,000 wedding planning service and a $7,200 butt lift performed at Elite Plastic Surgery in Miami, Fla. Clothing, fragrances, furniture, travel tickets and an ATV were further charges, and according to the News & Advance, Cline paid for a Miami hotel room to recover from the butt lift. Police said Cline allegedly forged five checks in the amount of $10,000. A representative of Elite Plastic Surgery confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that Cline already had the surgical procedure. A No-Limits Construction representative did not return Yahoo Lifestyle’s interview request. According to police, a former No Limits employee in Cline’s role pled guilty to embezzling more than $150,000 between 2016 and 2018. On Thursday, Cline was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail with an $8,000 bond. She is charged with 15 counts of embezzlement, forgery and uttering (using a forged document). According to News & Advance, Cline’s wedding is, presumably, upcoming.
i can't believe a band like Kraftwerk isn't there and the fact that the Cure, Radiohead and Roxy just made it...wtf is that ish
It's to the point that there are so many in it now, many questionable and head-scratching, the whole thing is so diluted, it literally means nothing anymore. " If everyone lies, then words have no meaning" (or something like that).
Trans Euro Express is arguably the most influential band of the modern age. Hip Hop. House. Techno. Even rap. Kraftwerk has a huge influence on that. What is even worse is that they have been nominees forever and still haven't gone in.
Nilsson was superb and his entry is warranted and overdue. Kraftwerk was awesome and should be inducted as should Country Joe. I don't mind the Cure or Radiohead being inducted. IMO Roxy was not worthy. Nor DMC or a whole bunch of others. While I know I'm old I fully agree that the voters are far out of touch and the Hall itself has become a joke.
Roxy doesn't belong? Ferry and Eno are legendary imo the Cure and radiohead should be in the top 50 greatest bands of all time
OK in my head I always saw and liked Eno alone. Or with Bowie. Or with Byrne. Or with Talking Heads. Or with Devo. Or with... I don't personally associate him so much with Roxy though I guess he played with them for 2 of their 13 years. Still when I hear the name Eno I don't think Roxy at all. Because he did so much great music with so many others. I guess that Roxy was Ferry's band and had 3 #1 albums and 10 Top 10 singles so I guess I agree they should be in the Hall on those merits alone. Though I mostly liked Ferry later he did get elected in with Roxy in 2019. OK I can vacillate, Roxy was far better than just OK, because Ferry was so talented, even if that showed more later than pre-1982. But if you're into glam rock...I can abide. Still better than DMC. Of course Eno by himself alone could of / should of gotten in long ago. The man is a genius.
