    dear dallas... fuck off
    • Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears that free agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel may be lowering his asking price in hopes of finding a major-league deal, per a report on Saturday. Rosenthal cites a source that believes Keuchel is looking for a one-year deal above the $17.9 million qualifying offer he rejected from the Astros last fall, though he’s still open to a long-term contract at lower terms than the original $150-200 million deal he was seeking over a six- or seven-year span. Now that the season is underway, the 31-year-old hurler has been tossing 95-pitch simulated games every five days in order to prepare for his next gig. He rounded out a seven-year stint with the Astros in 2018 and pitched to a 12-11 record in 34 starts with a 3.74 ERA, 2.6 BB/9, 6.7 SO/9, and 3.3 fWAR across 204 2/3 innings. Even given Keuchel’s solid track record, it’s not clear if any teams are prepared to make offers within the parameters the pitcher (and agent Scott Boras) have set. The Padres were linked to Keuchel as recently as last weekend, but have reportedly balked at his asking price and don’t seem to be closing in on a formal agreement. The Mets and Brewers have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the southpaw, though no substantial progress appears to have been made in the last week or so.

I'd be curious to see what it would take to get him on a one-year deal.

It's very close to happening. He used to always get his players the best deal. But owners and GM's are onto him and the game has changed. Especially with the qualifying offer. Imagine how he'll look if Kuechel has to settle for less than the QO he had him reject.

Thanks for bringing this to the forefront. It's sad that our bee population is dwindling and very few people seem concerned. We need bees man.

Kershaw's next start will be in Tulsa for the Drillers. Not thrilled with where his velo was in his first outing, but it also was just his first outing where improvement is generally expected. With that said, I am still not all that fond of what felt like a totally unnecessary extension.

Drew Jackson and Connor Joe have both been DFA'd. If they clear waivers they will be offered back to the Dodgers. I could see the club bringing both players back, Joe for pure depth reasons and Jackson since he never saw pitching above the AA level and was showing some serious progression in the last year+.

This maybe CK's last useful year as a SP. Perhaps, CK may accept a BP role next year depending on how this season goes.

Strategically, sounds good. Tactically, a long shot. Kershaw, unless completely ineffective, will bristle at this.
And considering the 93 mil pay day, he most hold sway with the geniuses in the FO.. Big sway.

Not a chance in hell. One thing we have learned over the last couple of years is that Kershaw is incredibly stubborn and proud. He was not ok with the Dodgers going to Ryu in game 1 last year and I am sure he would have a major fit if this was even brought up. Just look at his offseason,
"Hey Kersh, you should use the offseason to develop your changeup"
"Naw I'm good, just gonna workout more and get my velocity back"

With all that said, no maybe Kershaw is no longer elite, but he is also still really fucking good. Just mirroring his 2018 or taking another minor step back and he's still a legit mid rotation starter... just those guys are not worth $30+M a year.

Dodgers are on pace to shatter the single-season runs record.

    Too soon?
