Same with Cubs fans. "Give Bartman a ring!".
Where was the grace before you won it all? Nowhere to be found.

I'd say they ruined Bartman's life, but the dude had way too much class and maturity to allow a game to ruin his life. I'm sure he's doing well.
All that incident did was expose the worst in sports and humanity.

In the case of the Cubs, it's even worse because it wasn't even Bartman's fault. Not one bit. So add STUPID on top of their scumbag-iness.

That's the problem, if he can't pitch on back-to-back days then they still need somebody to get the odd out against a LHB, unless Ferguson and/or Alexander figure it out over the next 8 weeks.

did not see this coming and had no idea he was ill
sad that he's best known for the error in the 1986 ws
was not only a great hitter, but a great baserunner before injuring his knee -- which prompted the dodgers to trade him to the cubs for rick monday
he was one of my favorite players when he first came up
and part of the magical '68 draft that most still call the best draft ever
if you got to see him play back then, you know how good he was and (sadly) how good he could have been had he stayed healthy
rest well billy buck... and thank you for the memories

If the overall volume of innings is low, could he start getting geared for back-to-back days in mid-September so he's ready for the post?

fucking red sox would never have been there in 86 without Buckner's bat
i remember him as a rookie and a young Dodger going ALL out in the outfield after every ball
i used to see him working out as a 16 year old kid at the old NFAC in Chatsworth and was so in awe
hate what they did to him and leaves me forever a bahstan bitterman with no way back
fuck you beantown and RIP Billy Bucks

We are stuck with Pollock and he will settle into the 4th OF role just fine.
He is the perfect platoon partner with Joc, not Kike.
Kike hits a lot worse usually when playing in the OF.
Like Bellinger playing CF vs RF or 1B.
Kike hits best when playing 2B.
Muncy/Kike should be our 2B platoon with Freese getting more 1B at bats until Lux can take over for Muncy and Muncy can go back to full time 1B.
Lux panning out makes this team whole.

    • Kike should only play against LHP, whether that's LF or 2B
    • Muncy should play every day, whether that's 1B or 2B
    • Pollock platooning with Joc is probably going to happen, which is sad considering he is making 55 million and doesn't historically hit that much better against LHP than he does RHP. We are basically just throwing him there because there's nowhere else. Bad bad signing.
If Lux takes over 2B, that only forces Kike back to the outfield. Muncy is playing every day. So I don't know what you mean by Lux completing everything if you also insist that he doesn't play the outfield.

Pollock, potentially a devastatingly poor signing so far (!), is much less of a problem as a position player considering all the interchangeable parts on the team. It's good enough offensively, right now anyway, to deal with a light hitting Kike, or Polly- whoever it is at any given time.
But the pen is a huge chink in the armor, overcome presently by a NL leading offense.
But should there be times when the O goes into a funk ( and safe to say it will), the bp, if performing zt the level it currently is, is a gaping wound. They simply are not good.
And without any measure of exaggeration at all this team has a 25 million dollar player that simply can NOT be used at all...even in a potential laugher like last night's perfect example.
Because Kelly will turn smiles into a frown in no time at all. He makes Baez, it his worst, look like Gagne at his best.
Amazing how good Bellinger is...and equally amazing how bad Kelly is.
His ineptness is communicable, and Floro has caught it, too.
Will no one rid us of this meddlesome pitcher?

I hate to say it, but Pollock will continue to start when he comes back. And that's a shame, because it's Verdugo's time.

And Ferguson has trouble on back to back days as well I believe. IIRC, he wasn’t able to go back to back last year

Guess it's what teach suggested...came up on top of the keyboard as a choice, so I went with it.
    Didn't think about it twice.

"Twatty!" Excellent word, and one that I need to start working into my every day conversations.

Reminds me of a recent uncomfortable conversation. I was looking at a new car. The sales gal, Tracy Watson, asked me to email her some information, and gave me her email address as twat@.... I laughed, she asked what was funny, and then I realized I had to explain. "Awkward" is putting it mildly.

Not sure if this was reported yet on here, but Andrew Toles has once again left the team. He had been down in Arizona getting into game shape. I think we are nearing the end of his tenure with the organization.

Nothing else was said other than that he had left to be with his family and the team supports him. Due to the quietness of it all, the speculation has been that he has had a recurrence of his anxiety issues.
