Is Andrew planning on hiring a general manager at any point?

no, by not hiring an actual gm they're saving money
and that money will go to signing marquee free agents like harper, kimbrel...

    who knows?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get not wanting Bumgarner in Dodger Blue. I'll take anyone who could help us win a championship. If you want to cite stats, fine. But not wanting someone strictly because they're a Giant is extremely short-sighted.

I never understood the love for Fields. Guy had one pitch and very little command.

Dodgers digest would lose their minds if a redneck joins the team.
Bumgarner is one of my least favorite players in baseball, but if he helps us win, I'd be the first to embrace

I don't want him on the team both because he's a mega douche and he's just not that good anymore. Gnats want five prospects for him, despite three years of rising ERA/WHIP.

    Verlander was washed.
The only SP luxury I would want is Scherzer, though.

Our focus has to be 2 elite BP arms and another pretty good one.
Perhaps a RH 2Bman who can play every day.

We aren't getting anything though so idgaf

    Washed or unmotivated?
Seems all he needed was a change of scenery.

Bumbitch has zero place on this team ever. Weather he needs a change if scenery or is flat out washed...fuck that guy.

You could say Bumfuck is unmotivated too. The Giants have lost the most games in baseball since the second half of 2016 (I might be misremembering the stat though).
Verlander also did extensive training to regain his velo.

Anyways, if he were to pitch shutouts in the playoffs and help us win a championship, I'd like him more than Toomgis, Chokeshaw, and all the rest. Winning is what matters.

That said, it isnt happening anyways.

Seems like we are once again, droning on mantra- like as we have so many times before, looking for a savior or saviors to win it all.
We sure have a penchant for doing that shit...for years now. As far back as Joc, who came up and we still lost.
Then it was Seagar, and we lost again.
Then it was Bellinger, and came up losers again.
When it came to trading, we all clamored as one voice, to get Darvish. And we lost again.
then , Machado came. Surely he was the answer. But no, he wasn't.
and on and on and on...
Now...the cry is we should have gotten Kimbrel.
None of these would be saviors did...well...save us.
The problem lies within the organization, definitely. For a long time, anti Nerds like myself were shot down because they were FO type geniuses, we were told....clever, and clearly knew how to screw trading partners. Like that was the ultimate thing to do. For that feeling of superior insolence.
Now though, it seems not so much. Maybe the ultimate realities of whatever they've done, season after season, only has led to recurring falure. Even to the most FO supportive individuals.
They simply don't know what to do to finally win one.
They garnish all the compliments, the kudos, the misplaced admiration.
    But always miss the mark.

you have to wonder if the front office/upper mgmt/owners are content with being perennial bridesmaids
a lot cheaper to be good than great
and fans will still come to games and buy merchandise
darvish and machado were inexpensive rentals
and they’ve passed on everyone else who have cost anything and could have potentially helped the team get over the top
and what little they spend, it’s not wisely
i liked the joe kelly signing at the time, but there were signs as he was almost left off the postseason roster by the chowds
the pollock signing was infuriating and made zero sense — and is anyone actually surprised his injury prone ass is on the il?
i’ll give friedman et al credit for what they’ve done/accomplished
but they also deserve the blame for not being willing and/or wise enough to get the team over the hump
