I feel like it could be true haha. Rosenthal mentioned it in a story the other day also, although Rosenthal might be getting his info from DV. I'm guessing it's something from his agent and the FO that they agreed to instead of having him move all over the place? I remember in previous years he'd have weird stats when moved around.

It's a weird thing to do though. Our best defensive alignment is with him at 1B, and he's our best CF, yet he's playing RF. But it can inflate his WAR and give him a path towards a gold glove. And with a large lead, gives us plenty of looks to see if Joc can get better at 1B (This worked with Muncy, as he is now definitely useable).

DV is an blithering IDIOT and anything he says should be thrown into the garbage. Joc at 1st a way to get him at-bats pure and simple. Joc's 1st base problem is that he doesn't know when to come off the bag to field the throw. a instinctive 1st baseman knows this very well. I've said it before Joc is NOT going to play it during the playoffs.

His inexperience shows in almost every aspect of playing the position.

Because he makes those type of decisions unilaterally.

I do beg to differ on one aspect he's doing well with and that's coming off the bag after a rare perfect throw from RedTurn and Corey. :D

And I maintain with the proper footwork he wouldn't have to come off the bag.

    So there. :poke:

I don't doubt that the F.O. is playing a major role in this, sure.
But it's ultimately his call. Grow a sack.
32 errors since June 24th or something?
Someone has to stand up for what's right.
But you're correct. In this case, he won't get fired because he's following orders.

If Harvey was a LH he would have already been picked up.

    Hard no on Harvey.

We should be targeting Brad Hand.

The Rockies are in dead last behind the Giants, Padres, and D-Bags...
...yeah, nobody tell me they're ever going to be good.
    Heard it too many times.

Tribe 3 back and I'm thinking that no way they trade Hand or Bauer.

Relief market is so hard to figure out, I won’t be surprised if we don’t see activity until the last hours. Trying to make sense of it:

Tier 1 (elite relievers with multiple elite seasons):
Felipe Vasquez, brad hand, Yates, Will Smith.

Hard to tell who is really available of those 4. Maybe none! I’m really skeptical any of these guys are actually traded. Maybe Smith.

Tier 2 (relievers with past success having good/great seasons):
Ken Giles, Shane Greene, Tony Watson,Alex Colome

Giles/Greene are definitely available and both would be good as set up guys.

Tier 3 (relievers having breakout years):
Amir Garrett, Chris Martin, Aaron Bummer

Garret is hurt but Martin/Bummer should both be available and would be good gets. Bummer is more useful for LA since he’s a lefty but he’ll be more expensive.

Tier 3.5 (relievers with past success having good years with some skepticism on keeping it up):
Sam Dyson, Shawn kelley, Jared Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Andrew Chafin, Greg holland

These guys would be okay but disappointing if they’re the best reliever they get tbh. Good gets if they’re like our 3rd/4th best reliever but not clearly better than some guys we have

Tier 4 (relievers not having good years but might be fixable or usable in different spots):
    Jake diekman, Raisel Iglesias

Diekman will be traded and would be good enough as a LOOGY. Iglesias probably won’t be traded. This tier could extend to a million guys and this FO always tends to get at least one guy from this type of tier.

Speaking of lefties, the Giants DFAd Derek Holland. Lefties are hitting .182/.276/ .195 off him this year. Wouldn’t be bad to get him for that role.

Lefties have zero home runs off him since 2018 started and only 5 doubles.

If the Gnats dropped him, he must really be useless.
