Saw a report and heard a couple talking heads say that Rendon's not getting out of DC, and if he does - Mets.
We'll get old man Cole Hamels and that's if we're lucky. That's the only Cole I see with LAD

That is a great point. I'd guess Lux was not strong in the equation just yet as most had his ETA in 2020 anyway. I think we see an OF purge again this offseason of either Pederson or Pollock or both, but that wouldn't effect those other guys. So maybe Rendon is not in the cards anymore.

I believe he tried something similar this offseason and then he ended up getting hurt so he stopped

That's not what the PPM said. They vowed to be under the cap thru 2022 to get investors.

Y'all really fooling yourselves into thinking we are going to be in on any big time FA's?

Neither Lux nor Muncy will be platooning with anyone.
Their highest and best use are as every day players.

If this is he way Muncy responds to being an every day player ( which is not on his past resume), then getting maximum from him is absolutely to platoon him. AB he looks sluggish, and his bat looks slower than ever before. Even his substantially accurate batting eye looks diminished somewhat. Having a good eye, however, is diminished of course, by the worst umpiring en masse, in bb history. But way more swings and misses for Blue Max.
To platoon him with phenom Lux ( as Rube suggests) sounds like good baseball acumen all around, at least for the near future.
Muncy looks like he needs a fortnight a Baden Baden, imo.

Muncy did have a bad July but I’d wait to see how he does in August a little longer before anything. He’s been our 2nd best hitter all year. IF we do needa platoon him against lefties, plenty of options now and in the future with White/Freese/Gyorko/Taylor/Enrique

The one real decision they have to make will be on Ryu. AFucktard will try and put him under ether, citing his injury history, to take an incentive laden deal like Maeda did, in order to keep the cap # relatively close to where it is now. He tends to keep the safe, sentimental favorites around.

    It's his pattern.

The downside to being up a million games, the most interesting thing the rest of the season is gonna be guys fighting it out for spots on the playoff roster, pitchers in particular. As a result, we will overanalyze every appearance. Health permitting, all of the following will be competing for spots:

    Kelly
    May
    Gonsolin
    Sadler
    Floro
Garcia (though i'm not a fan)
    Stripling
    Thornburg (we'll see)

This could be for as few as 2-3 spots, if Hill is healthy, meaning Maeda gets demoted and Kolarek/Urias are the Lefties.

A little too early to gauge our need for a big time FA. We don't win the WS how impatient do we get. Rumor is Gerrit Cole is on our radar or reported radar. A desire to sign a guy isn't enough the other party has to want to be here and maybe take a lower AAV or amount of years. Payroll will be under control finally after this year so that helps a lot. Having said that we are obviously high on our specs so there will always be a question whether or not we are big spenders again.

No doubt there's no need to read between the lines when Greinke speaks. In a way, as odd as he is, it's kind of refreshing.

And it's hilarious that a dude with a $200M contract is boycotting a 30 cent increase in the cost of guacamole. That's classic! But given his personality, he doesn't come across as a total cheapskate.

    Compare him to this:

A few years ago, my wife and I vacationed to Kauai with two other couples. The six of us went zip lining. Had a good time, so at the end, we tipped the two guides $50 per couple. Not a huge amount, but enough that they were grateful. As we put away our gear, they said they had Barry Zito the week before. Keep in mind this was during his mammoth Gnat contract. At the end, he handed one a ten dollar bill and said to make sure to split it with the other guide. I thought they were kidding but they were dead serious. Now I always remember that story whenever Zito's name comes up.

    Loved zack's attitude no question
Remember those post game interviews with alana and she'd bring up some obscure stat and then ask him "isn't that crazy?"
His eyes would get all big and he'd smile that insane smile of his
Better than a comedy act and since he really doesn't have a filter the answers were hysterical

They will be 100M under the tax going into the offseason and have something like 25M total committed after 2021. It’s not that they will go over the cap, it just that they will finally be out of from some awful contracts where they will have room to make plenty of moves under the tax. Then with all the cheap controllable talent, they won’t even have to worry about getting close to that tax number until the mid-2020’s unless they make a number of FA signings, which is likely not needed.

For those of you that care about this sort of thing, NLDS and NLCS will be broadcast exclusively on TBS this year. Postseason starts on October 3rd.
