Probably. The poor history of guys not playing up to their abilities after signing late has got to start making teams more weary about waiting things out. Harper and Keuchel ended up having decent seasons, but the negatives have far outweighed the positives in the past.

 

When asked about the sign-stealing, Carlos Beltran said he didn't know it was going on. An obvious lie since there's no way people can bang on trash cans right down the hall in your dugout, and you would be oblivious to something going on. Also, someone dug up a video of Beltran batting for the Astros and you can clearly hear bangs in the background. Another lying sack of shit.

 

Reminder, Carlos Beltran was the one that everyone credited with figuring out that Yu Darvish was tipping his pitches.

 

If true, that has nothing to do with the Astros' techno cheating.

• Jake Odorizzi is reportedly leaning towards accepting his QO. I assumed this was likely scenario along with Smith and Abreu. This could also be a ploy by his agent to get offers in ASAP so that he can make a decision on whether to accept or decline.

• As I just mentioned, Will Smith (the pitcher) is now leaning towards accepting his QO according to reports.

• Abreu is expected to take the QO as he will be hard pressed to find something that pays him more than the $18M he would get. I have a hard time believing that he has an MLB career much longer either way as his numbers continue to drop.

• Ryu is said to be looking for a 3-4 year deal and has said that he is open to playing outside of LA. Apparently the Dodgers FO has shown little interest in retaining him thus far.

• Apparently Scott Boras has been much more proactive in the early going than he has in past seasons. Some people in the industry thinks that he too is trying to get his guys locked up earlier this year. There is some optimism that we could have a very active Winter Meetings after all this year.

• Heyman reporting that the Nats are trying to come to a quick resolution on Rendon and Strasburg so they can go to contingency plans if necessary. They are much more confident about Stras than they are Rendon.

 

The Dodgers initially said that after review, they caught it as well. After this report however, they changed their tune and admitted that actually after in depth review, Chase Utley(I assume) found no evidence of him tipping.

Jose Abreu? I mean, I know that some of his numbers have declined..the big strikeout total and what not, but he still made the all star team the last 2 seasons. Just hit 30+HRs and had north of 120 RBIs. Not that that's considered awesome in today's game, but damn..teams can do a hell of a lot worse. His wRC+ puts him 11th at his position

According to Trevor Plouffe (on his Twitter account), he has a source that said the Astros also relayed pitches to the batter via the bullpen. Someone watched a live feed and relayed it to someone in the bullpen via an earpiece, then the person in the pen would put hands up on the bullpen fence to indicate fastball, hands down to indicate offspeed pitch.

• Will Smith signed a 3 year deal with the Braves. 3 yrs at 39 Mil... wooo that is a lot for some not great peripherals the last stretch of the season. If he puts it all back together, than great, but those HR numbers were rough.

• Odorizzi and Abreu did accept their QO's. Everyone else declined.
