    Stripling on Muncy [homo]...
    • “Really, just an unbelievable year for Muncy. I’m stoked for him. He’s a North Texas guy, I’ve been playing him since I was 17, he’s the most annoying person to pitch to in the whole world. … Nowadays every hitter is a prima donna, right? If they get rung up on a strike that they think is a ball, they’re going to complain about it. If Muncy complains, it was a ball. I’m convinced. Muncy knows that the plate is 17 inches and he knows if it’s on that 18th inch, and he will tell you about it. Muncy is super impressive. He works at-bats like crazy.”

Dodgers' President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman revealed that an unidentified Dodgers player good at picking up habits was adamant that Darvish didn’t tip his pitches against the Astros in the 2017 World Series:

“We had a player who was really good at picking up pitch-tipping type things and watched the Darvish outings and said you couldn’t sell out on something that Darvish was doing,” Friedman said.

While Friedman did not identify the player, it’s reasonable to suspect it may have been Chase Utley. He developed a reputation of being skilled in that area, and Dodgers pitchers have revealed Utley noticed and helped correct their pitch-tipping.

There’s a new report that an Astros executive (unnamed) sent an email to scouts asking them for help on stealing signs and suggested the use of cameras.

It’s crazy to me how many people were involved or knew about this, and they thought this wouldn’t come out? WTF? Cheating 101: don’t let 100 people in on your scheme. Fuck, how stupid are these little shits?

I’m just amazed they thought they would get away with this. Any one of those scouts could have (and should have) reported this to MLB the moment they received the email. It’s incredible they got away with this for 3 years.

    • Passan reporting that the executive that started the cheating plan was Kevin Goldstein. He was a writer for Baseball Prospectus and began the trend of MLB hiring front office personnel that had built their reputations from the web. This is incredibly disappointing as I’ve always kinda idolized him for succeeding the way he did, but honestly fuck this guy. His life in Major League Baseball should be over.
    • Passan also has said that MLB is considering a very harsh punishment.

Something that is starting to worry me. Roberts was on MLB radio on Friday and he, like Friedman, did not really go after the Astros as well as defended them a bit. He also repeated the “only look forward” line which was interesting to me and didn’t seem all that interested talking about it. I’ve been shocked that Dodgers players have been mum on this while Yankees players have not been, plus many others around the league. So far, not a peep from the Dodgers players and the one former player that has spoken up has been mostly defending them. I don’t know about anyone else, but this is becoming a big red flag to me and I am starting to worry that the club defending the Astros could mean that we have been doing something bad as well. I hope I’m wrong, but until I see some of our guys come and say something, I’m gonna start to get a bit nervous.

So you're saying that a FO that's been lauded as the smartest in baseball, potentially has company in this ordeal - from the other FO that's regarded as the smartest in the sport. Shocking..I'm on pins and needles.

    @MaxWildstein

    15 Astros: 11.5% SwStr (29th in MLB)
    ‘16 Astros: 11.5% SwStr (29th in MLB)
    ‘17 Astros: 8.5% SwStr (1st in MLB)
    ‘18 Astros: 8.9% SwStr (2nd in MLB)
    ‘19 Astros: 8.6% SwStr (1st in MLB)
Much easier to make contact on your swings when you know what’s coming.

the one thing that makes me believe we aren't involved is all those miserable swings on back foot sliders
is it possible that they knew those pitches were coming and still swung?
I remember screaming and running from the house in 17 as Cody swung over and over again
just seems hard to imagine we could have had any advantage

    lol intrigued
those are the ones with no values
    • SUNDAY: Kevin Goldstein sent the email in question, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. Goldstein, a special assistant to Astros’ GM Jeff Lunhow, joined the organization as a pro scouting coordinator in 2012, following stints writing for Baseball Prospectus, ESPN, and Baseball America, among other outlets. Goldstein did not respond to Passan’s request for comment. Interestingly, Passan’s sources characterize scouts’ responses to Goldstein’s email as “mixed.” While some were indeed upset about the potential reputational harm that could come with involving cameras in a sign-stealing operation, as Rosenthal and Drellich indicated yesterday, others were “intrigued” by the idea.

There are reasons to believe we aren't and I am not disagreeing with that, but was more than a bit curious since Dodgers players hadn't really come out shamming them. Since I posted about it this morning, it starting to sound like we really did not cheat. There is a story about Puig hearing the news when this whole story broke out. Apparently he picked up on the whistling and pointed it out to Bellinger and nobody did anything. I feel this whole story is only going to get more frustrating, not less.

While I wouldn’t be surprised if we were caught up in a cheating scheme, I would be surprised if we were stealing signs in 2017. We were too oblivious to the Astros cheating to be doing the same thing.

If the Dodgers were cheating it was either something different than what the Astros did, or it started after 2017. Either way, if the Dodgers were cheating, fuck ‘em.

Roberts isn't gonna go after his protest partner/butt buddy Alex Cora.
If the Dodgers were cheating, I'm not nervous about it...
    ...they aren't my God anymore.
I expect them to fail and disappoint me, and do not look to them for morals.
I remember feeling physically ill when Manny was suspended. I was so embarrassed at school.
    Why?
I'm slowly on a path of turning the Dodgers into passive entertainment
If it wasn't for the good time I have reading DSP, I would be even less interested than I'm becoming

    • There is now video evidence of the Astros rig during the WS as people have found it watching the teams World Series DVD.
    • There is belief that the Astros AGM that was fired after the ALCS debacle where he yelled at 3 female reporters is behind the new flow of information that is coming out seemingly every day. It is also rumored that there are multiple scorned Astros scouts that have agreed to cooperate with the the investigation.
    • Drew Pomeranz is apparently the sexy name on the FA market. He may end up not getting a small deal after all as teams were blown away by what he did after moving to the pen. No teams have been rumored to be in on him.
    • The Nats are supposedly pushing Anthony Rendon to make a quick decision(Strasburg as well), otherwise they are prepared to move on if he does not decide fast enough. This is why they are said to be in on Moustakas and Donaldson.
    • The Red Sox are said to not be thinking of moving Betts any longer. They are currently trying to move pricey under performing starters David Price, Nathan Eovaldi and the freshly extended Chris Sale. With no certainty of any of these players health, it could be very hard to move any of them. Price is still owed 32M each of the next 3 years, Sale is $145M over 5 and Eovaldi is $17M per the next 3. They will likely have to attach someone to a deal. There was a rumor earlier in the offseason that they were considering attaching Benintendi in a deal, but he hasn't exactly been a world beater. I have a hard time seeing anyone come to their rescue this time around, but anything could happen! Maybe the Dodgers can get Bogaerts and pair him with Price or something while sending back Pollock.

Footage surfacing of George Spring and Jose Altuve taking their eyes off the pitcher a split second before they start their windup. Springer looking towards right-center (possibly looking at the Astros bullpen) and Altuve looking down the third base line (possibly looking at the third base coach?).
