Following in Scherzer's/Corbin's footsteps with the deferrals. To each his own. Good for him.

Dodgers are fucked. And not just because they won't sign any of the elite, but Stras getting the hell out of the NL would've been great for them with the way he waxes their ass

Lerner didn't have to do a damn thing after winning the WS and yet he did something extremely impactful here bringing Stras back.

    Wish we had Lerner.

More surgery on his arm as well. I mean, no doubt he is currently elite and no comparison to Kershaw, but Kershaw was still elite just a couple years ago and has fallen fast. But to argue against my own point, Stras should age much better seeing as he actually has a repertoire of pitches.

Yeah, but if this is how a man responds to 2 TJ surgeries..it's about to time for Kersh to go under the knife, right? Lol Kersh has also been banged up in recent years, missing whole months and LAD just goes on about their business of winning games without him.

Eye of the beholder stuff. It takes a tough SOB to recover from 2 TJ surgeries and continue on the path that he's been on. And the rehab and recovery in TJ, I know many have heard, in this day and age really helps strengthen the arm/elbow. Nats have always played it safe with Stras and we - LAD fans - have watched the bloom in horror.

Cole's up. I felt 6/250 would win us Stras, but of course, LAD wasn't up to it

Prediction on was Cole 8/290. Gotta win these services. Shit's not for the weak at heart

    • Donaldson is looking at a 4 year deal and apparently some NL teams are starting to consider long term deals for regulars because....
    • There is growing belief that the NL is going to adopt the DH after the 2021 season amongst the GM and Prez's at the meetings. If they are starting to sense it and plan for it, then it is probably coming. The owners have been the ones holding back, but this seems like something that would be able to appease a lot of players, even if it really fucks over more than it helps.
    • The Braves and Phillies are two teams that have engaged the Cubs in talks for Kris Bryant. Nothing is expected to happen with him until the ruling comes down on his arbitration years.
    • According to Heyman, Cole's initial asking price is a 9-10 year contract. The belief is that he will surpass the AAV of Strasburg, so that could be a fucking insane contract.
    • Ryu is getting serious interest from the Blue Jays and Twins, but it sounds like the Dodgers are the most likely landing spot for him. The Dodgers have been actively engaged with him over the offseason and he is said to prefer to stay in LA.
    • The Reds are pursuing Marcell Ozuna pretty hard, according to reports. This could be interesting as they may be a pretty solid team with another savy signing or two.
    • Kevin Gausman is seeing interest from teams with some of the best analytical departments in the league. He may be a Cole 2.0 type player that just needs the right coaching to thrive.
    • Alanna Rizzo is engaged to Chris Iannetta. For those that were following a couple years ago, there was a huge controversy behind the scenes about her having a relationship with a current player.

Rosenbum predicting we'll deal for Lindor. Betts is a better fit for us given the right handed bat, but knowing LAD they'd prefer the additional year of team control that Lindor has. Makes sense on that front.

That said, Bowden said weeks ago that the Indians have no plans on dealing Lindor without getting Lux back, and LAD is being LAD - squeezing the spec again, thinks they'll " be fine " without making a single move. We want to be great..Guggs is cool with being fine. Agreed..Rendon goes home to Texas. Think Donaldson could wind up in Philly..hard ass those Philly fans would appreciate - he's gonna be the winner here and probably be the most overpaid of all. Which is good for him since he missed out on his big payday years back

Lindor is a switch hitter. So he would fit the lefty/righty narrative. I get the feeling that neither Lindor or Betts is realistically available.

In CLE's case, they're truly in no hurry, have an additional year of team control and are in line to win a solid amount of games.

If I were them, I'm not moving my superstar/MVP caliber SS for a package that doesn't bring a young, high caliber replacement @ SS. Bowden says they want Lux and rightfully so

Dodgers have rebuffed some teams that have called with interest in Gavin Lux. — Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 8, 2019

Who could they have been offered if Lux were the target?

Stras is Kershaw's buddy coming in to finish the job after Kershaw did all the heavy lifting but gave it his all and now is trying to get us over the line while sucking on fumes.
Strass has been in the shop for half the time while Kershaw been on the road driving the hard miles.
It's time for Stras to pick up the matrix of leadership for a season while Kershaw gets optimized and comes back right on time like a brand new peterbilt in it's prime.
Stras is no hot rod like Ferris but Ferris is the rodimus we have.
Stras is worthy of the ken.
Bringing his neverending oil can style to the masses will make him a magnus here.
That will certainly pump the ultras up.
    Stras will be expensive.
He may end up as just insurance you keep for when it's time to go to the promised Land and the space bridge isn't ready yet. He may not be the bargain we want due to age and disease. He might have one year in him before he becomes a flaming gascan with flames on his hood.
Like Kershaw now has from all those years running his engine hot and into the ground.
It's a legend how tough this man has been without his heart seizing up.
    He kept his motor clean.
And those flames aren't tattoos but old scars.
Stras may be a gascan sooner or later...
But he is the giant ass gas tanker we need.

I'm sure there are skills u have that u never show at work.
You always have hold something back for a rainy day.
You may show only 2 and those 2 may be perfect.
Don't mean you haven't spent your career practicing an ace in the hole for when your 2 cents aren't enough anymore.
And possibly rednecks are a proud bunch.
Don't like to show off unless it's the right time and you got the right stuff.

Probably some lefty reliever that is about to be implicated for a major crime.

In all seriousness... maybe one of the Cubs stars? Marte? Let's not forget that the Dodgers FO never does anything that is expected. Some guys I could see them pursuing are like a Matt Chapman, Whit Merrifield and Syndergaard. Outside that, can't think of anything off the top of my head, though I am sure they are kicking around on a few guys.

    • Dodgers have around a dozen different FA targets/trades they are working on for mostly "elite players" and they expect some things to start to take shape during the meetings.
    • Verdugo is still recovering from his back injury, but he's expected to be 100% go by spring training. If he is still not 100%, then a trade seems incredibly unlikely this offseason.
    • AJ Pollock has used the offseason to try and regain some of the speed and mobility he noticeably lost in 2019.
    • Justin Turner is preparing to return to 3B this next season and is working on improving on some of the steps he too has lost. He has told the team that he is ready to move across the diamond if need be, but only 1B is being considered an option.
    • Jansen is the teams closer, but Friedman said that one of the main goals is to get him some help in the 8th or 9th inning. They are saying what they are supposed to, but it is obvious that they are getting ready to have to replace him. Kelly was supposed to be that guy and it backfired.
