Sounds like their GM and Friedman are a match made in heaven. We aren't trading Lux. They aren't trading Lindor. Yet, Occam's razor tells me Lux for Lindor is the deal. Nothing makes sense about a Lindor to the Dodgers deal, including "why are the Indians rebuilding right now anyway?"

Well with Cole going to the Yankees, maybe Cleveland is thinking the next few years will not be in the cards for them. Stock up on young talent and challenge maybe in year 3.

I dunno. Everything I hear the Dodgers are “aggressively” pursuing someone or is “in the hunt” for a player, I end up raising my blood pressure for no reason.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this FO convinces Jim Thome to come out of retirement.

That could be, but you have to think you're never going to have a free path to the WS, especially in the AL. The Red Sox are trying to cut payroll, the Astros should face disciplinary action, the White Sox are on the verge of being good but haven't made the jump yet... if the Indians go "all in" they'd likely be considered the second best AL team going into the season. The Twins are right there, but the latest projections I've seen have the Indians beating them. The Yankees are a big hurdle, yes, but having only one juggernaut to take down seems like it's as good as it's ever going to get.

Yeah, just me desperate read in the hopes Cleveland really does want to deal with the Dodgers.

I just talked to an Indians fan, and he's of the opinion the Indians could trade Lindor without rebuilding. It would simply be the GM trying to get extra value before he becomes a FA, but because their division is weak there's no reason for them to go into a rebuild mode. I wonder if Seager is an option they are interested in, if this is the case? Seager could slide in as a Lindor-lite option, and they could get additional pieces for the future.

Darvish reportedly unwilling to waive no-trade clause
by Jeff Todd | MLB Trade Rumors — 7 minutes ago

While the Cubs are getting some phone calls on veteran righty Yu Darvish, the team ultimately can’t move him on its own accord. That’s because his contract includes full no-trade rights for the time being. (That’ll turn to a dozen-team no-trade list at some point in 2020.)

In theory, the Cubs can sort out a swap and then leave it to the prospective acquiring team to convince Darvish to waive his protection. But that may be an uphill battle — if it’s possible at all. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (via Twitter), Darvish “has no intention” of agreeing to a swap.

It seems that Darvish is quite fond of playing in Chicago, even if the team is at least listening to scenarios that might involve moving his contract. He certainly seems to have settled in at Wrigley after a calamitous, injury filled 2018 season. In the just-completed campaign, Darvish worked to a 3.98 ERA with 11.5 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 over 178 2/3 innings. He continues to be prone to the long ball but also managed to carry a personal-high 13.4% swinging-strike rate.

Darvish already bypassed a chance to opt out of the remaining four seasons and $81MM left on his contract. That seemed like a rather obvious decision at the time, but it’s now fair to wonder just how well the 33-year-old might have done on a market that is doling out huge contracts to top starters. At minimum, the Cubs would presumably be able to offload a major chunk of what it owes Darvish — if, that is, he’s even amenable to considering the possibility of wearing a new uniform.

Mets, Cespedes agree to amended contract
by Jeff Todd | MLB Trade Rumors — 28 minutes ago

The Mets and injured outfielder Yoenis Cespedes have agreed to “amend” the remainder of his contract with the team, according to Andy Martino of SNY.tv (Twitter link). Details of the arrangement aren’t yet clear, but it seems there is a modification to the salary Cespedes will earn in the coming season.

As things stand, Cespedes is due $29.5MM in the final season of his four-year deal. He’ll remain under contract, but at a lower rate. The modification relates to the injury suffered this May. Cespedes shattered his right ankle in an accident on his ranch while recovering from successive surgeries to both heels.

While we still lack a full public accounting of how Cespedes was injured, it seems clear that he was in a jeopardized position with regard to his contract. This settlement — which surely involved the league and union — will allow both sides to avoid the cost and strain of a full-throated legal battle. For the Mets, they now know just how much they will save on their obligations to Cespedes at a key juncture in the offseason.

    More to come …

A diminished MadBum is still a formidable pitcher with playoff pedigree and he's a horses ass which will give us a much needed intensity. A no nonsense player who will remind us of Kirk Gibson. Probably won't happen.

I should've known it was coming but it's still unreal to me that the big 3 are all gone and we signed none of them.
    Frank McCourt would be proud.

I get this disgusting feeling inside whenever I think of the Dodgers nowadays.

Gibby was MVP. All that smoke means nothing unless you back it up with performance. Otherwise, it's just corny, a guy like Muncy will tell your tough guy to go get his ball out of the ocean, and now your tough guy is a joke.

Now, if you want to make the case that Bumgarner would be our best hitter in the postseason, I may be able to get behind that one. But somebody else can pay Bumgarner $100M for fading performance..we already have enough of that going on at the top of our payroll.

No Rendon. No Stras. No Cole. And now it looks like we can add - no Lindor. And I certainly don't expect the Cubs or the Rockies to help us by sending Bryant or Arenado.

On 2nd thought, yeah, go ahead and sign Bumgarner. I'm about to be all the way out on this org, anyway, if they don't make this deal for Lindor, so wtf would I care? Go ahead and give fading Madbum the ole privileged $90M that fading Kersh got. Do your worst, Guggs

This is Jason Schmidt Part Deux if we sign Bum.

But I see this FO doing something like this.
