Buster Olney is reporting that the Red Sox are telling teams that if they want Betts, they will need to take on the entirety of David Price or Nathan Eovaldi’s contract. Once you get past that, they’re also telling teams on top of this request, they will need to part with two of their top prospects. The feeling around the league is that the Red Sox are not being realistic... I can see why.

Am I wrong in saying 1 year of Mookie alone doesn't get two top prospects? that and to take on a combined 43-60 million in AAV, that's just a sign they aren't really even considering moving him unless someone gets dumb

 

Nope, you’re not wrong. Only way you say, “ok, we will give up 2 top prospects” is if he says he’s willing to sign an extension and he’s not saying that. This is basically the Sox telling people to blow their socks off, or else they’re happy bringing him back and taking the pick.

Nolan Arenado: 'Lot of disrespect from people' on Rockies


"There's a lot of disrespect from people there that I don't want to be a part of. You can quote that," he told MLB.com.

Arenado didn't specify why he feels disrespected, but did tell MLB.com that he isn't upset at the trade rumors, which linked him to the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals, among others, this offseason.

"There's more to it than that," he told the website.

The timing of his comments came shortly after the Denver Post published a story in which Bridich said the team is moving forward with Arenado despite others' interest in him.

"With the season coming up and spring training on the horizon, we are going to start focusing on that," Bridich told the Post. "We have listened to teams regarding Nolan and really nothing has come of it. We are going to move forward pretty much as we expected -- with Nolan in the purple and black and as our third baseman.

"So we can put this to bed and collectively look forward to the upcoming season and work toward that."

Asked by MLB.com about Bridich's comments, Arenado continued: "You ask what I thought of Jeff's quotes and I say I don't care what people say around there. There is a lot of disrespect."

 

The Rockies FO is a cataclysmic mess. You fire your GM cause he’s fucking terrible and you replace him with.... his protege? All Bridich has done since taking over is fuck up left and right. They got lucky a couple years ago, but they’ve drastically overplayed their hand now. Hopefully Arenado holds their dicks to the fire and tells them LA or nothin’.

 

I wouldn't mind taking on Eveoldi's contract and giving up a couple prospects. I'm not giving up top prospects. I'll give em Mitchell White, Rios and Peters.
