Especially when the Cubs and ROX decide to send them to the AL.

Seattle is calling one of these guys. White Sox, probably the other.

A Cubs beat reporter just said that the Cubs and Rockies have discussed a 1 for 1 swap of Kris Bryant for Nolan Arenado. This would solidify Bridich's claim as the worst GM in baseball.

It would be so incredibly stupid. Arenado is the superior player at the position, locked up long term to a large, but reasonable contract. Bryant Is still potentially a great talent, but he has not been the same player that he was a couple of years ago and should not net a similar return as Arenado even a year from now. It would be a slap in the face to fans(Rockies fans that is) and just another mistake by a brutally bad front office.

Mark Feinsand has a report on the big potential trade chips on the market. From his piece:

Betts- The Padres have been the most active in talks for him, but they want the Red Sox to take back Wil Myers. The Dodgers are also involved in talks, but he is not sure to what level.
Bryant- He has no inside info here. He just says that the Braves make the most sense and that the D'Backs have kicked around on him.
Arenado- Same as Bryant, just speculation and he once again thinks the Braves are the best fit. Also could see the Cards in on him.

I'd actually love to see the Padres trade for Betts.

Buster Olney had a tweet about how good a Cody Bellinger/Mookie Betts pairing would be defensively in the OF. Cody was #3 and Betts was #5 in DRS last year. Someone asked the question, "How likely do you think the Dodgers are to get Betts Buster, 1 being no way-10 being it's a lock". Buster Olney replied "8.5". This has naturally set off a mini storm. A trio of those two, plus Verdugo in LF would make for one of the more elite defensive OF's that we have seen in recent years.

The guys rumored to be coming back in a Padres deal have not even been all that great. Quantrill has not been close to the same guy as he was originally hyped about. Lucchesi's H/A splits scream Petco Product. Margot has been straight garbage and is basically a worse hitting Jackie Bradley Jr. Josh Naylor is the only intriguing guy that has been mentioned and he is nothing more than a DH, which REALLY limits his value. The Padres are probably the stronger, depending on who you talk to and these are not top flight guys that they are offering, only worse if Wil Myers is included. I have a feeling that the Dodgers are no longer able to float Pollock though in this deal unless it evolved into something bigger with Price. I will add that the Padres doing a deal that gets them out of the Myers contract and only has them parting with any of the 4 names mentioned above, is definitely going to hurt and piss me off.

If you adjust the qualifying innings to 700 innings, then the DRS ranks are:
    3. Cody Bellinger
    6. Mookie Betts
    9. Alex Verdugo
    11. Joc Pederson

Magic is probably begging Kasten to let AF get another Bryant playing in LA.

    Too soon? :)

    Another K Bryant...

FWIW, Kris’s favorite player growing up was Barry Bonds, and his favorite baseball cities are San Francisco and Boston.

A lot of chatter this morning that the Dodgers and Red Sox could be closer to a deal for Mookie Betts. A Houston sports writer/radio host said a deal is close and physicals have been exchanged. This may have set this all off, unless there is some stuff happening behind the scenes.

According to a report from Andy McCullough, there is a scenario being talked about where the Dodgers would take back Price, but it seems to be the most unlikely scenario and the team feels they have the pieces to make a deal work without him.

I hate to be a wet blanket but the guy who is making these claims doesn't have ties to the team or anyone. He pays for air time. As an ESPN radio host myself I am very aware. He's quite litteraly an eBay flipper who buys air time from his local affiliate. That is exactly how our show started.

He has zero ties to any source, nor does he even bring on any guests. It's an absolute sham.

Of course it could happen and signs are pointing to it but this gentleman is the WORST of sources and is throwing a hail Mary.
