MLB has to really fry this organization and the players.

 

This trade has to go forward. The MLB front office, the Players Association, and the rest of the MLB teams cannot set this precedent and will not allow it. NO trade will ever be the same, and no team will ever trust that any trade will go through.

And the Red Sox cannot lose whatever minuscule good faith they have left after their cheating scandal to pull this idiotic move.

If Scott Boras can be trusted (admittedly a hard sell), this is complete bad faith on the Red Sox. This cannot be tolerated.

The Red Sox are now asking for the Twins next top pitching prospect as a replacement and the Twins are supposedly refusing. It may be time to cut them out.

 

This has all the signs of a bate’n switch by the Red Sox. Good god, keep your eye on the prize. Verdugo and salary relief is the main piece in this deal, making it fall apart over the smallest piece of the deal is silly.

So if the Twins are refusing to give the next lower prospect instead, this means the Twins must have known the initial prospect eas suspect physically. That's pretty shady on the Twins front.

Why not trade Maeda directly to the Red Sox?

 

But a trade straight up would suggest they are equivalent....with modest upside for the prospect?

This thing seems to be getting uglier and uglier. The only part that I am looking at as a positive is there has not been really any mudslinging from any of the camps through the media. The Padres one had some serious “bad faith” complaints being dropped from our FO. This one they just keep saying “sides are confident that a deal will get done.” The frustrations have been from the media and fanbases while the fears are being stoked by mounting issues with the Twins playing ball. I would not be shocked if Friedman has alternate options lined up that he feels should be able to help make a deal. I also think if the Red Sox say they’re gonna walk the Dodgers would pay whatever was needed at this point to close a deal. The black eye to the franchise and the mess they’d be left cleaning up afterwards in the clubhouse could be astronomical.
