$8MM for a platoon player is actually a good payday, IMO he should be lucky he didn't get the $7.7MM.

I will not lie and say that Pollock wasn't a fucking disaster in the playoffs, cause he was... but in the regular season after returning from getting the screw removed .288/.348/.537 and 13 HR in 227 PA.

One thing that got lost in all the hub-bub tonight, apparently the Dodgers had offered up Verdugo in deals to the Cubs(Bryant?) and Rays (Pham? Glasnow? Both?) before the move to the Red Sox. Word is that teams around the league do not want to touch him due to his attitude and the assault rumors.

Yeah no doubt, he is a weapon if he is healthy. Pollock reminds me of Werth.

It will be interesting to see how he holds up. He used the offseason to work on his mobility and apparently the screws in his elbow were a major issue. That would mean two bad elbow surgeries, so hopefully the third is good luck.

He got like 7.75 mil or whatever. Last year of arbitration. He kinda got screwed. More than a 3 win player last year, 36 bombs. I think he deserved the 9 mil

I've heard more than a few people use the words " best lineup in the history of baseball" to describe the Dodgers after the Betts trade
My first reaction is, of course, 'well, hyperbole'...
    ...but is it up there?

Every prediction I saw had the two sides settling at $8.5 million. Joc submitted $9.5 and the Dodgers submitted $7.75 - my guess is the arbitrator came up with an $8.5 figure. It’s an awkward situation anytime it goes to arbitration, but the estimate was out there, and Joc’s side overreached.

Way better. Have no idea why people not happy.
We have the best lineup in baseball.
Most complete lineup of any dodger team I can remember In my life.
And we got to keep Boss Chicken Strip to give us at least Maeda level work and we added Kenleys next setupman and eventual replacement.
All without losing one impact player.
Losing Joc was a bigger potential loss than any of the prospects we gave up.
    Joc is a fucking Dodger.
Strip too. He did not want to go be an ace for the angels and leave his mopup role with the dodgers. True Dodgers.

    Lf. Joc/Pollock
    Rf. Betts
    Cf. Bellinger
    3b. Turner
    1b. Muncy
    Ss. Seager
    2b. Lux
    C. Smith

    Do it mitch!

How did the Padres get one of the best relievers for a player with a wRC+ 20 points below league-average?

It has that type of potential, but WAY too many question marks to declare that now:
    1. How much is Betts the product of cheating?
    2. Is Bellinger the player we saw in the first half of 2019 or the second half?
    3. Will Turner be healthy?
    4. Will Pollock be healthy?
    5. Will MLB figure out Lux and shutdown the rookie/sophomore?
    6. Will Seager regain form?
    7. Is Will Smith a product of the 2019 juices ball?
I’d say Muncy is the only player without a high variance in possible outcomes. Most likely? Nowhere near the greatest offense ever. If everything hits we could be in the conversation, but that’s so unlikely it’s not worth discussion ATM.

Since Tyler White occupies one of those spots, I assume we really only need to clear one spot. Tyler White should be DFA’d and the rest of the team is allowed to throw trash cans at him while he walks to his car.

Yup, and this trade has put his name in the headlines and the delay has put the front office in the by-line. Could raise questions about how it was or wasn't handled in 2015 by the Dodgers and Gabe Kaplan. How the Dodgers handled it has come up previously.
I did a Google search and was surprised how many recent hits there were about the assault and failure of the Dodgers to investigate. I knew it had resurfaced last year as Verdugo and Urias were doing well in the majors. It was probably more of a advocacy group issue than a sports media issue but that is probably changing. With his name being major headline material now you have to wonder if the Me To movement will see this as a prime example of needing to right previous wrongs and the organization taking a hit.
Boston after being caught cheating now trades for what could be another PR nightmare. There problem with residual negativity for us.

Except the trade was at the impasse when his arb went on. The Dodgers FO even said that they felt it was not fair to Joc to argue against him from their point of view. It feels like they had his best interest at heart, it just backfired here.
