It would make for a good trivia question in 15 years.

And another inevitable non win of a championship, however obtuse it may be. The LAD won't rest until every possible manner of no ring is exhausted, even if it's all a result of sheer providence.
We have that mojo, regardless of the visibility, or invisibility, of the reasons why.

A cancelled season would signal that the Dodgers were going to win it all.

The universe said fuck that shit and intervened.

We could be one strike away from the WS and a UFO would abduct our entire team.

Even June would be pretty sweet.
An abbreviated MLB season amplifies the importance of each game

With a shortened schedule, how about some crazy absurd shit:

Bracket style format, NL on one side AL on the other. Seeding is based off of your 2019 record. Each round is a best of 7 games. Best record from last season gets a bye in the first round. World Series is 11 games.

So no regular season at all?

One problem with this is that half the teams go home each week, drastically reducing the overall number of games. MLB would rather guarantee each team 30 games in an extremely shortened season. With a huge playoff bracket, half the teams would only have 4-7 games total. You will also have tons of rivals who don’t play each other.

Would be better than no season buts not gonna happen.

I predict 80 game season. No inter-league games.

I wouldn’t be surprised they expand playoff format. Perhaps inter division playoff as 1st round.

I guess it only took a pandemic for Spectrum & AT&T to reach a deal.

I think Bill Shaikin is a d-bag, but he did a great job covering the Mccourt divorce and contract negotiations between TWC and DTV.
I'd like to read how this deal came to be.
Specifically, and how different the original carriage cost in 2014 was from today.

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Justin Turner wants to see more home runs and less innings in Major League Baseball.

During an interview with Access Sportsnet Dodgers on Wednesday, Turner proposed a radical change to MLB’s extra-inning format that would limit the length of games and save potential wear and tear on pitchers arms.

The idea? A tie-breaking Home Run Derby that’s formatted similar to how the NHL uses shootouts to decide regular season games.

"This is my opportunity to push for a Home Run Derby in extra innings," Turner told Access Sportnet Dodgers. "Instead of playing 17 innings, you get one extra inning, you play the 10th inning, and (if) no one scores, then you go to a Home Run Derby. You take each team's three best hitters and you give them all five outs, and see who hits the most homers.

"You know, you wanna keep fans in the stands until the end of the game," he continued. "I know when I go to hockey games, I actually enjoy watching shootouts. That keeps me in my seat, so maybe a Home Run Derby will do that as well."

All due respect to one of my favorite Dodgers, but that concept stinks.

    So do shootouts in hockey.

I couldn't agree more. It's a terrible idea. I'd rather see games end in ties, or the idea where you start extra-innings with a man at 2B. I don't mind ideas that try to get rid of 17-inning games, but a HR Derby is not baseball.
