depending on the situation i can easily see that happening, maybe even being encouraged by teams that aren't competing
a star thats signed to a long term deal on a team going nowhere has no reason to risk injury this season
and a guy looking to sign a deal next year on a bad team would probably be thinking the same

I could see this too, I'm just wondering how bad a team would have to be to be out of it with this playoff format. I feel like all, except maybe one or two teams, will be realistically in it until the last 2 weeks.

Would anyone notice if the Marlins were banned permanently?

If the season ended today, the giants would not make the playoffs. They had been sitting in that second WC spot for a long time.

Zach McKinstry has been recalled and Victor Gonzalez sent back to travel squad. A lot of folks think he is coming up to replace Hernandez's horrendous AB's, but this is more than likely a one night affair to add a bat with both Betts and Rios ailing before rosters are reduced to 28.

Roberts said Lux is not ready yet, but the other day he did mention that he was closer. From the sounds of it, Lux will not be up until he is ready to be the everyday 2B. Sounds like he got a bit irked when a reporter mentioned service time manipulation.

It is very likely that he got COVID. He was staying fairly active from the looks of it and then suddenly his instagram account went dark.

I'm not going to be hard on him because it sounds like he was sick leading up to Summer Training, so he was at a disadvantage when he came into camp. I think the Dodgers made the right move, they were no doubt taking advantage of service time, but based on the performance of Kiké, Taylor, and Seager in Summer Training it was hard to make the case for Lux. Now that Kiké and Taylor are back down to Earth, hopefully Lux can provide a spark soon.

    hadn’t heard that
only heard that he, buehler, gonsolin and others were late arrivals
if that’s true then it’s a different story

It was never confirmed as far as I know, but it was rumored that his late arrival was Covid related. Could be that he tested positive, or someone he was in contact with tested positive so he was quarantined, or it could be something else completely. But outside of Covid or other health related issue, it doesn’t really make sense for him to show up late to camp like he did.

Just curious if all the Covid cases for players are made public.

Maybe different teams have different policies regarding releasing that information?

The answer is no. A statement about the latest outbreak on the Cardinals said “The 6 players who agreed to have their names released are...”

Since it is an illness, it is up to the players discretion to report it. If they say it is ok, then the media can release the details. Doesn't mean that someone looking to get ahead won't report it, but the Dodgers are one of the clubs that have been more mum than others on the subject. Scott Alexander and Kenley Jansen are the only two Dodgers that have admitted to having it.

Zach McKinstry and Adam Kolarek have been optioned back to travel squad. The roster was supposed to be dropped to 28 today. It will remain at this number for the remainder of the season.
