The Pirates weren't even close with those expectations, so that gives me some comfort.

In retrospect, getting anything for Vázquez would have been a big win for the Pirates. I imagine they could have easily gotten someone from the second tier of Dodgers prospects at the time: Jeter Downs, Tony Gonsolin, or Josiah Gray. Cheers to unreasonable expectations.

One of the players the Dodgers are getting in the Stripling deal is RHP Kendall Williams. From what I am seeing, this alone was a HUGE return for Ross Stripling. Williams was rated the Jays #13 prospect.

Isan Díaz (Marlins 2B), was just reinstated by MLB after opting out of the season on August 1. This sets an interesting precedent, potentially leading to the return of other players who had originally opted-out.

David Vassegh tweeted yesterday that David Price's name was brought up in a conference call with Andrew Friedman and the media. From what I can tell, there was no indication of any news coming from the Price camp, and it was most likely reporters just throwing his name out there. I'm not sure what a David Price return would look like at the moment, or if there is even enough time to get the needed reps in, but it's an intriguing thought.

thats a good get. Dodgers have a lot of interesting guys from the past two drafts, lots of 1-2 rounders. They’re very young but if anything, good bit of farm system depth to make future trades

    A little bit about Williams:
    • He is ANOTHER big RH arm, Listed at 6'6"
    • He was a 2nd round HS pick in 2019 and unlike other big HS pitchers he already has solid command/control of 3 pitches as well as feel for a 4th.
    • His fastball has crept up a bit since joining the Jays and now works in the mid-90's
    • One Jays scout said Williams reminds him a bit of Noah Synergaard.
    • Seems to be a high character guy as well
    • He has a bit to go in mastering his mechanics, but the feeling is that once he does he should take a step forward. If not he has a bullpen future.
    • He had a short stint in rookie ball last year after being drafted, but he dominated in that time.
    • He will likely slot in around out Top 15 or so prospects.
He sounds a lot like Dustin May from a couple years ago when he was drafted. Williams will join the player pool, so this will be fun to watch.

Yeah there are a few people that I see that are freaking out a bit about this. Feeling is that this kid matched with our development squad will mean he may take a leap forward.

Unless he has stayed in just unbelievable shape and been built up to weekly 100 pitch bullpens against live hitting, there is no chance that he could get ready in time. Would guess that MLB would require him to be activated fairly quickly, which would be problematic in itself. Can’t see it happening, but it’d be great for him to prove me wrong.

I didn't realize that the LA Times actually wrote a piece on this:

    From the LA Times Article:

In a conference call with reporters Monday, Friedman was asked if Price is considering pitching in 2020 after news surfaced that Miami Marlins second baseman Isan Díaz was seeking reinstatement to play after deciding he wouldn’t because of the coronavirus. He didn’t shut the possibility down.

“It’s a better question for David,” Friedman said. “I’ve talked to him a decent amount and texted during games. We have not discussed that, but he’s definitely locked in on Dodger baseball, that’s for sure.”

    ...

Friedman said he didn’t know if Price had continued throwing after his decision, but he encouraged Price to do so and “he totally agreed.” But their conversations, Friedman maintained, haven’t included the possibility of Price joining the team.

I don’t think he’s coming back and that’s fine; don’t think anyone on the team should pressure him and he should only do it if he feels he could honestly contribute and have his mind in it.

Like I said, I don't care what the exchange says. The value of the US dollar is a mirage right now. Nobody knows what the US dollar is REALLY worth at this moment. It will not be clear for at least 2 years. Initial boosts create exponential devaluation on the back end.

i'd bet Price is 20lbs overweight and in need of a minimum of 2 months prep to be worth the trouble

You know what rhymes with Sucks? Lux.
You can't say Gavin Lux without following it up with "softly hit ground ball to the infielder".

Trying for the reverse jinx. Black owned business need your donation money Gavin. Maybe crack a smile or something.

Some of those businesses might have gotten a little seed money if Lux would donate for every K.
