Dodgers played like a team tonight that had been there before. I hope they can keep that mojo going.

what a perfect win. Offense was patient and then delivered massive hits. Kershaw was fucking nails. Nails nails. 50% of swings were whiffs off him, a CAREER high. Pitching game plan was great. Baez looked good and he’s our what, 6th best reliever not even counting May? Even our god damn manager out managed theirs. Not just cause of results but process.

we’re gonna face another damn good pitcher tomorrow but we just gotta limit the runs, stick to the game plan, and get some lefty mashers to do their thing. Snell NEVER goes deep into the game but they have good relievers. Keep it going

I was watching on tape-delay and just got caught up. It just looked like a better team sticking it to the underdog. Are all our bats on at the same time? If so, this will be a short series.

I hate going straight to the negative, but giving Floro AND Gonzalez no time to warmup is inexcusable. Just horrible managing. And we got bad performances, and probably lucky no one got injured. Who decides to take out Kershaw with one out left in the inning and no one warming up? Shit, at that point at least send Kershaw back out there to warmup and stall. I don’t mind taking Kershaw out there, but fuck you gotta give the bullpen a heads up WAY before that. But then to turn around and do the exact same thing 5 minutes later? Roberts sucked ass tonight.

With the Rays bringing in Yarbrough and Fleming out of the pen, it seems clear the Rays want to attack us with lefties. It didn’t really make sense why we struggled against lefties this season, and I’ve been wondering if it was just an anomaly in the shortened season. Our bats handled the lefties just fine tonight. I don’t think it’s a real weakness, so good news moving forward.

Tomorrow’s probably the worst matchup for us on paper (Snell vs. Tony/bullpen). Expecting a tough tough game and a victory makes everything easy but a lose could easily happen

Muncy and Bellinger being in season long slumps didn’t help. They’re usually not awful Left on Left, but them being meh hurt us. Seems like both they + Kikè have been having much better AB’s against LHPing lately. Betts being so atrocious is the problem now. We need him to turn it on against the lefties as he used to crush them. Hopefully Pollock can find some of what he’s lost since the postseason started as well.

Mookie did homer off a lefty, so that was a start

maybe, but we hit lefties pretty damn well tonight, and hopefully it just carries right over until tomorrow. FWIW I think Morton is our most difficult pitching matchup. Luckily we have Buehler opposing him.

For @N.Z - Dodgers’ odds of winning the WS are now at 80.3% according to fangraphs.

    A couple thoughts:

I was surprised to see them leave Glasnow in so long. 112 pitches when he had obviously lost it at the end? I don't get the thinking there, other than trying to save the bullpen, but he got stuck with six runs and I could see that messing with his psyche for his next start. Meanwhile, Kershaw's relatively light usage should bode well for his back and his endurance next start, possibly his velocity as well.

I like the well-rounded team effort. If Max and Taylor can stay hot, I'm going to start really liking our chances.

Weird thing... it just seems to me that at any given time either Kershaw or Buehler are pitching like our ace, but never both at the same time. Maybe this series is that time.

I think that ump should be the official home plate balls and strikes guy for the remainder of the series.
I've seen the team go off like an offensive juggernaut many times before, and certainly seen Kershaw be simply tough as nails...
But I can't remember a RP ( or two, maybe) rushed into a game for no apparent reason, or a fine night of calling balls and strikes to that level by the ump. Two rarities.
Oh, and perhaps the truly head shaking Joe Kelly, who is unlike any ML pitcher I've ever seen. It's like watching "Dune"...you can't believe what you're looking at.
But it all worked. And with a healthy dose of just plain old good luck, hard to beat.

His stats are nothing to brag about (.220/.278/.618), but Smith has driven 12 runs and has gotten key hits in the middle of several important rallies.

He has. 12 RBI’s in the postseason, tied for 2nd on the team, but he only has a .618 OPS.

My point, muddled as it was, is that he's making them count.

hes also probably had the most people on base and most people on base in scoring position, to be fair. I think in the NLCS he approached 20 people left on base

not saying he hasn’t had great hits and moments, he absolutely definitely has, but it more speaks to the people in front of him just constantly getting on base. People in front of you get on base a million times and good things happen
