Also, (and someone correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not as knowledgeable on NBA free agency/salary cap science) shout out to AD for not automatically re-signing after becoming a free agent. Assuming he does re-sign, I'm pretty sure it allowed for some extra salary cap maneuverability with free agents.
Could still use Iggy at the vet min. Special place in my heart for him after watching him light up the Celtics and close them out
Marc Stein@TheSteinLine Both the Lakers and the Clippers are trying to sign Markieff Morris, league sources say
The Lakers still have a cap hold based on AD’s projected salary, so the signings have to be made with this cap hold as part of the equations. It gets replaced by the actual salary once signed.
Clippers pay Marcus Morris 64M guaranteed for 4 years. Lakers pay Markieff Morris the veteran minimum.
Not sure how good a fit Boogie is for a team heading into a condensed season that's going to have more back to backs and less rest in general. Would be wise for Pelinka to do everything he can to make sure that healthy guys have these roster spots Can we trust Boogie to be healthy and play? Word is he won't be ready to begin the season, so that's already a red flag under the circumstances. Guess we'll find out pretty soon
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania Free agent Markieff Morris has agreed to a minimum deal to return to the Los Angeles Lakers, source tells@TheAthleticNBA@Stadium
The Shroud, The Show Sir Wesley, Il Papa Le Brawndo, The Koochie Cheef Keef, Le Montreux Big Browder, La Gasolina
Sounds like one of the Morris boys is gonna be having some sour grapes with his turkey come this Thursday? I wonder how well mom's gonna keep peace at the table?
We don’t need Boogie right away, and we don’t have to play him every game. But he’s a different look than Gasol and more versatile IF healthy. Plus never underestimate the desire of a player seeking a ring (Dwight is exhibit #1). That being said, a wing defender or another 3pt specialist will also come in handy.
Yeah I question Boogie's desire in general. How can he not be ready to play? He's been called lazy before. Wouldn't really shock me if Marc Gasol were essentially Boogie Cousins right now - except with defense. I will say this though Boogie looks lean in some of his workout vids But I guess if they do decide to bring Boogie back that's cool too. More hype. And having him around didn't stop them from getting #17. It's look like they may keep McKinnie and use him. Funny thing in all of this action is that now everyone is overlooking Talen Horton-Tucker and what he's about to unleash
Oh so he Danny Green'd them. I missed that one. Good stuff. It's actually over on the transaction side in the spotrac link
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania Free agent DeMarcus Cousins and the Houston Rockets are nearing a deal, sources tell@TheAthleticNBA@Stadium Decent gamble for HOU. They don't have anything to lose. Pelinka ain got time for that this year
Ralph Mason@Ralph_MasonJr Windhorst suspects AD is taking his time to decide what contract he chooses is because of Giannis. If Giannis doesn’t sign supermax he thinks AD will sign a 1+1, both him and Lebron will opt out next offseaon and recruit Giannis to the Lakers
