and Passan just doubled it up

    @JeffPassan
The Los Angeles Dodgers are monitoring the market for right-hander Trevor Bauer and could be a player depending on the price, sources tell ESPN. Focus for the Dodgers now remains on a right-handed infield bat, but Bauer and the Dodgers remain a possibility as his market develops.

Wow, two links by substantial writers on the same day. Very likely that Bauer is far along in negotiations. If we go big after Bauer, it likely means we’re about to blow out the tax.

I'm surprised that we are in on Bauer, it just doesn't seem like the upgrade over whoever he pushes out of the lineup will be worth the price... but I'm not going to complain. I have my concerns, especially with how the foreign-substance issue will play out over the next few years, but I'm willing to see how it plays out.

I also wonder what dominoes it could set off. Would it mean this is Kershaw's final year in blue? Does it squeeze May out of the picture, opening a possible trade with the Indians for José Ramirez?

Blowing through the tax is what you should do when legacy is on the line

Said it weeks ago. Have a chance to secure SoCal's very 1st dynasty, you have to at least consider it. Legacy lives on forever

    Still doubt they sign Bauer

Jays are out here shooting at anything that moves

Not gonna lie, it would feel good to see the Dodgers go for the jugular. The franchise has never won back to back WS, and only once have they gone to 4 WS in 5 years. If the team wins the WS in 2021 it would solidify the most successful 5 year period in franchise history. That would be pretty impressive given that we didn't have a fair competition for one ring, and the team that didn't make the WS in that time period won more games than the rest.

At the end of the day, the franchise is 2nd in MLB history in WS appearances, but only 6th in wins. We need a nice run to balance the scales.

Don't think it happens this year, but next year....

Wanna give Kasten the benefit of the doubt. He was a part of a major fuck up in Atlanta in the 90's. They blew the opportunity. Don't blow this one

Guys. I hate to say this but I think the rumors that Turner had suiters was fabricated. The guy has only officially been linked to one other team and you know how thirsty reporters are in regards to reporting.

If we sign Turner to anything more than 2/25 then it's a thank you contract .

Seriously? A 14-minute video to explain to fans how he's going to decide where to go? Little full of ourselves, Trevor, are we?

Apparently along with the Phillies, a couple teams “on the west coast” have gotten into the Realmuto bidding. If this is true, that’d be really interesting on who it could actually be. Dodgers could make it work by moving Smith to 3B, Giants could make it work if the DH comes to the NL and the Angels could certainly use a catcher especially at his caliber, but holy shit do they have other needs. The Mariners could make some sense after trading Nola, but do people call them the west coast? This would be an interesting alternative option for the club if they’ve started kicking the tires.

Braves potentially selling d'Arnaud before he sucks ass again would make some sense. Move Realmuto in

Feels like a Phils/Braves/Halos mexican stand off. Maybe the Braves win and send d'Arnaud to the Halos

I don't see how the Dodgers interest could be anything more than Friedman's "checking in on every available player." Word is that the Phillies have offered $110M. At that level, is there really sufficient incremental improvement over the Dodgers current catchers/prospects to justify it? If they were to spend that much, I'd rather see it done at 3B or LF.

I honestly don't think there is a real shot that we would do anything, but I would put money on us being one of the "west coast teams" to check in if that part isn't complete bullshit. The FO has a noted love for Realmuto and while Smith is very good, he has also shown durability issues and whatever the fuck was wrong with him in the postseason. I think Realmuto is like the way down on the list of things they would do, but just say Turner DOES go somewhere else, then the club may consider that option.

I think this is another scenario where the Phillies are bidding against themselves... which is weird since the Jays should probably be in on him. The Braves would be a shock just cause their ownership is so fucking cheap.
