im not 'such' a racist lol
ill save you the trouble, i am a racist
i view the races as different
i also view each person as different, is that then humanist?
    lol
    each religious group is different
    each national spirit is different
shit, you can tell differences between families on the same block

i could give two shits about if immigrants speak a certain way
its preposterous to think people should think and talk the way that makes you more comfortable
speech is such a personal thing
i speak like a hick, people tell me i should speak more eloquently all the time if i want to be taken seriously
i dont want to be taken anyway by anybody that would care about how i speak when making their judgements about me
i prefer speaking spanish with all the spanish speakers in my life, specially when they talk to me in english
    this is america, not england
and the fins were here first, and the french, and the german, and the dutch, and of course the spanish too
america is the melting pot and it will melt with you
or you will be melted down and dissolved

and when do i call anything racist?
    unless i say 'racist!' with a !
and Irish amongst others understands what that means
things go over your head a lot cap, not because you arent intelligent but because you think literally and linearly like a lot of religious fundamentalists
im a white european, both my father and mother come from families that lived in small communities in their latin american countries where the white people dont mix with the darkies
and i enjoyed women of all races shapes and colors throughout my lifetime
but i married a dark indian girl from the equator whose family spent most of her childhood living in the amazon jungles with a tribe of cannibals that you only see on national geographic from aerial photos.

again, i dont think you know what racism means
but its ok, most people who have been reared by the state dont know what racism means either
shit man, i dont even have a high school degree
ill go even further... i dont even have a middle school degree
the last degree i got was in 6th grade
i was in special ed, not the kind you think though lol
i passed all the government educational systems test before i was 14
i went straight to college on my own dime as i had a job bagging groceries
after a few years of college i knew how much of it was bullshit too
but go ahead and try to tell me what the textbook defines racism as though lol
i used to recite the textbooks to the teachers when they would talk out of their ass
but that was nothing special.. you should have seen me at church with the bible school teachers and pastors
    that was a riot!
heres a freebie for you since tis the season...
you know what witch means in the bible?
where it says 'though shall not suffer a witch to live' and other examples
its talking about the types who stand up in a public place and start muttering empty words
and use words that impact or shock the hearer into cowering or some other emotion
its using words or phrases designed to enchant the weak of faith
specially when using tones of that go up and down, tragedy and comedy (which mean dramatism as in a soap opera, hence the soap box adage), or worse yet amongst all of them the demagoguery of religious or political 'fervor' that has orators speaking with unnatural affectations.
a dude who goes up and speaks in a way that is different than the way he speaks while he is sitting next to you at lunch is a witch and he is using his witch craft to bewitch those in the audience
and that is anathema in the bible
which is one of many ways the bible shows you how to spot wolves in sheeps clothing in all walks of life

thats no biggie, i dont really have a problem talking about that stuff
    its not a crime
and honestly i dont think it has anything to do with being humble, at least for me
but i appreciate the good sentiment
i grew up really sheltered from a lot of things
but once i turned 12 i dove head first into everything
im from the same background as david koresh and desmond doss
    from the same strong faith
yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run... (queue guitar solo)

Rube, you are many things, most of them hilarious
you routinely talk out both sides just to test people for catching your double entendres
so that you can tell them they're wrong
as if it were possible to be right to all your implications

I try to follow as linear as possible because thats what is expected of the reader
and yet clearly you have a great time at the jest

    I'm cool with that too

Like I said I've not known you long but I can tell that you're not a common racist
which doesn't mean that you don't routinely toss out racist statements as bait

OK sometimes I'll take that bait
but that's what you want anyways
    isn't it?

and then you go off and spout scripture
as if that itself isn't an invitation for a double talk reply
I've got too many priests and nuns in the family
all of whom are completely full of shit
as organized religion is simply about control of the sheep
and the propagation of the church

Sheeeesh can you keep up with yourself?

Someday, hopefully sometime sooner rather than later
we'll need to hang in person and shoot deeper shit than we can type on a forum such as DSP
where too many things simply cannot be said
need to get with Diablo and drag your argumentative ass to 7000' where all bets are off

Of course DSP might be in trouble if we agree too much :D

    its not testing people.
or maybe it is, but not in the nefarious way of testing someone to see how smart they are.
its not double talk, its not jive, in fact i dont know what you mean because im not down with that yin and yang
i dont think i tell people they are wrong, i tell people what i believe and i sometimes do it unabashedly
but i do everything that way so i dont really see the problem
people tell me that i have no shame and i respond that i have a ton of shame which i keep hidden deep inside where shame should be
but i act unapologetically because im acting on something i feel no shame in
now if you speak with doubt in your heart or deceit in your tongue then speak with shame
    but thats a crime imo

i dont expect the reader to follow linearly
i expect the leader to love me
and love means just one thing
to give the most basic thing you got
all you have to give in this world is your attention, your focus, your care
so its not the specific words you need to follow nor the order they are in
its the underlying message that you need to grasp
that is how you love the person you are hearing or reading
those nuns and priests that are just repeaters of the text or repeaters of doctrines some other person taught them do not demonstrate any love for the word of god
love for the word of god is paying attention to the meaning in the subtext, the morale of the story, the gist of the joke, the soul of the song, etc...
i demand a lot or i demand nothing
    from most i demand nothing
but if you deign to listen then i demand a lot
im hard on you yet you are one of the guys here i enjoy talking with the most
    see how that works?
if i pay attention to what you write, if i try to understand you, if i want to know the meaning behind your words... thats a good thing
    imo

im a court jester but im not a mocker
i dont do it to laugh at anyones expense and much less to try and pull one over on them
its sometimes a little saddening to think that some believe that is what i try and do
i try to share laughs with people and use references that they may get but that are not on the nose either
the led zep one i painted on extra thick because i wanted to ensure you got it ;)
sometimes your anti faith zeal blinds you to a lot of pop references that i couch in biblical form
or biblical references i couch in pop

racist statements made to foster thinking are not racism
i still dont think you know what racism is
you keep referring to me as kind of a racist or not 'such' a racist or not a 'common' racist lol
i am common as fuck, im vulgar, a peon peasant country rube from the paganus!

if you think im tossing out bait its because i think your a catch and a half ;)
    and i like good fish
and yes the religious folks in your family are probably full of shit, specially if they be priests or nuns
but most pastors are wannabe priests anyway and many times act much worse
im sure we would all get along just fine if we meet up
but if that ever happens it would be to start a church
and it would meet on saturday nights under the stars with bonfires keeping us warm
good words strengthening our minds and putting joy in our hearts
with the clergy saying we are heathen witches and the state saying we are rebel scum
like in the good ol days

Buddy you are a hoot and irreverently insightful. Which is what I enjoy the most. I was cautioned about engaging you on certain topics but those warnings were immediately and intentionally ignored.

There are too many topics broached above, each meriting a more complete reply but I’m not into typing so much more than I have.

I’m good with the powers of faith, and permit people to have their own opinions, after all this IS America, but I’ve grown a distinct and pronounced distaste for Organized Religion. My family knows this and yet this very morning one of my younger sisters awoke me at the crack of dawn with a text full of Psalms and scripture passages… and my needle hit red, 0-120 in about 3 heartbeats. Maybe less.

I have to be careful not to trample wall flowers. Tender timid types are not a good thing to crush since it violates my overall good karma/juju perspective. I seek out those thick skinned and willful enough to be capable of defending themselves, and even then I try to use caution. You Rube do not appear timid in the least so I too enjoy the discourse and welcome your replies.

Regarding racism, I define it as “if you can state something highly biased solely based upon you being of a certain race and others cannot reply in kind due to not being of YOUR race then it’s racist”. I seek no advantages from being a white male but I’m also damned tired of being the only class of citizen that permitted to be openly discriminated against. I couldn’t care less about what happened 100’s of years ago. Neither of us were there. The truth is often painful enough without adding layers of unanswerable racial bias. Do I feel bad that black males being portrayed as criminals, thugs and shitty parents? Not so much. Particularly since so many TRY to act like gangsta thugs in the first place and as a whole are absent fathers. Do I feel bad about Mexican’s/Central Americans being portrayed as illegal immigrants? Not at all if they don’t follow the rules to enter the country. When my clan entered the US legally the Irish were slammed. Next year it will be somebody else. Play by the rules (whatever they are) and there’s no issue. If you’re here illegally and get deported 4 times and then come back a fifth time then it’s on YOU because you’re not playing by the rules. When I’m in China I play by Chinese rules. When I’m in Mexico I play by the Mexican rules. Why should the US be any different? I welcome the melting pot, it’s a source of great strength. But if you are NOT going to play by the rules then you’re not welcome as you’re going to fuck it up for everyone.

The reason America is great is because we have a better set of rules. (now rapidly being corroded by wealth we all agree) The law is supposed to be for all of us. (except the rich as previously explained)

Regarding religion it should be a personal thing. This country is all about the separation of church and state. Which is why I rail against the idiot zealots on the religious right and all those congressmen servile to them. Catering to local voting tastes is one thing but how is it that none care to defend the separation of church and state? Because they’re paid not to. ‘Murica!!

When you spout ANY bible verses you are weakening your own credibility. If you cannot defend your stances with rational logic and must resort to twisting scripture quotes then the world is welcome to ignore you as yet another weak minded papal sheep. I’ve read enough biblical verses to know that there are plenty of vague implications that can be easily interpreted/reinterpreted to support WHATEVER cause you want. Now you’re no better than the manipulative charlatans wearing their collars backwards. Which I believe is actually NOT your intent… though it comes across that way. How can you argue with the Word of the Lord? You must be a heathen while only “I” am the pious one. Pound sand. So then it comes down to who can twist those reinterpreted vague words to suit their corrupt purposes the best. Thus you appear intent to enter the disgusting realm of Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammy Bakker etc. You’re better than that.

Stick to rational logical replies as anything religious isn’t.

Quoting hidden meanings and subtle interpretations of song lyrics is so much more endearing. And so much less pious than misquoted out of context bible verses.

Still in the end I’ve more than once contemplated founding the “Church of the Wandering Treees” and I’d be their captain, and never pay taxes again. Sometimes it seems only right. Hell we should ALL start our own churches. Why should they be the only money makers exempt from paying taxes?

We now return you to your normally scheduled “post of the year” offerings…

I wrote something called 'abono' a few years back. Abono literally means fertilizer.
In spanish and other latin derived languages it has a connotation with the word good/bueno and also bones.
Old farmers used to mix ground up bones into their pastures to get a bumper harvest. The combination of minerals in the outer bone/calcium and inner blood/iron and the type of cells there in that marrow are very bio-viable.
Of course the word has much more subversive meanings.
That was an outline for the type of fraternal organization that would free any man from most situations that enslave him. It had solutions for people with unconquerable burdens like debt, IRS issues, bad spousal support, unemployability, etc....
To free yourself you would first have to learn how to not be an employee. Since working for a living with your SS# makes you a slave to any of these and other traps our system has set up for the unsuspecting.

Now Cap your hate for the Romans is understandable. Your hate in general for the bible is not.
The US is being used for all sorts of nefarious things. I hate that, but i dont hate America.
The constitution is is shredded by lawmakers but i dont hate the constitution.
The bible has all the tools for your freedom. But it has stipulations in it just like those put in by the founding fathers.
Which are that if you are not faithful, if you do not keep it for real, if you just pay lip service to it... some smarter cat will come in and become an expert in all of its technicalities and over time change its meaning into the tool of your enslavement. Just like with the constitution.

Im not good with the powers of faith. I think they are all a bunch of lying sons of a bitch.
How big of your to permit others the right to have their own opinions lol.
I dont. I think their opinions are shit.
Protestants think they are rebels because for 500 years they have been 'protesting' the vatican.
They are so far up their own ass they dont understand that they were assimilated into the borg a long time ago. They shouldnt be protestants at this time, they should be militants. But instead they are tools.

You do good in not trampling a tender flower. But know this... the weak are the ones who create the burdens that are then forcibly put on everyone elses neck. Do not allow the weak to mandate what the strong should be doing. The weak bunch up for power and then use that mass power to bully the powerful to listen to them.
And once they listen they the powerful end up beholden to the weak. That is what happened to the republican party.
The religious right are supremely weak people. The weak put up all sorts of barriers to god because they are too weak to meet with god. And so they put barriers on the rest of the people.
There is no hell. Its not a biblical concept. The word hell in the bible always comes from hebrew or greek words that mean the literal or symbolic grave or euphemisms for depression, oppression, desolation of war, etc...

You do bad by getting so pissed off that someone sent you an a psalm or whatever.
That shows you that you probably do need some help from the word of god... but then again we all do.
All of us are fucked up, all of us are pieces of shit. If you think you are a good guy then you are worse than most. That isnt self deprecating or self hating stuff either. Its the honest truth. Our minds are gutters and whats worse is that we dont realize half of the fucked up things we think are all that bad. Then we do the more inane thing of comparing ourselves with other people and think 'hey at least im not that dude, im not as bad as him'. Thats horseshit.
You are a piece of shit Cap, but God loves you and so do I... :D
    Now go be perfect.
And remember perfect is an infinite verb.
Its like the word eternal life. You know how long eternal life lasts?
    Till you die.
But people make up infantile concepts because they have holy fathers telling them old wives tales that make them feel warm and fuzzy when its time to hit the plate. The collection plate.
But its good to give. It really is. Its the closest thing to godliness you can attain.
Just give to the dude in dirty clothes down the street, not a dude in a suit and tie with his hand out.

BTW cap, i am timid as hell. I am painfully shy by nature. But i fight my weaknesses hard by going the other way.
The bible is also the first constitution there ever was. You cant sit here and say anything about it if you dont try and understand it. God is my father and I try to know my father. Only knowing my father intimately will I be able to bond with him and understand where he is coming from. Then and only then will I be able to know what he meant years ago when i was a child and he tried to give me advice. Do you get what im saying here?
It happens to most of us with our dads. We dont get our dads, we dont get what they tell us.
Until we are old and try to salvage our connection with the old man do we start to appreciate what he tried to teach us. But for most of our lives we could not hope to understand his words. Even when we tried we would understand it wrong and not teach our own children right.
But the person who lives his father will eventually get to the heart of his father and know him. And the past will wash over you and you will understand.
The bible is not vague, its a rich love letter from a father to a son. A poem that is not for you to understand if you arent one of his kind. Most of the fundamentalists people you know are probably not one of Gods 'kind'. IE family.
God has a family. A kin. A kind. A flock. A host. An army. A force.
    Here is another protip.
You know how god is 1, yet they talk about a trinity?
There is only 1 character also. You either have character or you dont have character... but there is not multiple types of character. Those are personalities.
There are many personalities. Types of people.
Muslims cant get past the concept of god having a son.
They forget that the word son in ancient times actually just meant servant or messenger... thats it.
Like how we in modern times say silly things like 'you got served, son' when talking smack. Or masters used to call their black slaves 'boy'. BTW the word "boss" just means master in Dutch.
But it has a deeper meaning. Its not servant in a bad way. Its like how a slave hard drive does all the work for the master drive but if/when the master drive fails the slave becomes the master.
The term in the bible is also used in the same way as a branch from a tree is used. Or a seedling/sapling.
The baby tree that is the sprouting future giant tree. The boss is the supervisor but its also the knob on the side of a tree or the protrusion on a larger rock.
Here is another one. When Jesus tells Simon that he is the rock and you are the brick on which i shall build my church he is talking about this same concept. The father/son concept. The master/slave concept. The rock/pebble concept. Jesus was 'embossing' Simon when calling him Peter. He wasnt making him a pope. He was making him his heir apparent. Or spiritual successor. In the same way that had happened in the old testament like with Elijah and Elias. Because the song always remains the same.
I interpret the bible like I interpret any work of art like music, film, literature and poetry.
The fact that all those theologians dont is why they fail, why they dont get it. They forget that the bible is a book of songs.
And if you shut yourself out to the bible because you think its beneath your level of intelligence you are putting yourself at the same level as the elites during the french revolution.
And you are saying that the great literary men of the found of this nation are not on your level.
Crap, i got to cut this one short as someone is knocking at the door.
But i layered it with extra Jesus just for you!

You proved my point well Rube
The bible has enough parables and vague assertions that the reader can make nearly any assertion
and claim it comes from the bible... just as you do above
THAT is the magic of the book

Love your summary of the Protestants, hit that nail on the head
Glad you had a better relationship with your dad than I did mine
of course mine was a philanderer who bailed on his family and wasn't seen for decades
I don't hold a grudge, it was his loss. I made my peace with him later in life and even then he admitted to seeing little value to family. Whatever, his loss again.
I was indoctrinated through the very narrow eyes of the Catholic church
and soon learned that the closer to the churches core the more hypocritical it became. Do as I say not as I do. Bullshit
Nothing I've learned in the last 40 years changed that opinion
In fact later events merely reinforced my views

Who is to say who among us is a 'good man'? Certainly not you or I.
The best guide I've followed is the golden rule, do unto others what you want them to do unto you
Funny how that applies so many places
And the best judge of that... the mirror
If you can't look yourself in the eye and be at peace then you're probably doing it wrong
It took years to grok the concept of Karma because there is no proof
for a lover of science that makes it tough to conceive
argue with yin/yang and you only deceive yourself
so strive to make other lives better and funny how your life gets better

I AM an asshole, and a piece of shit.. just ask my wife LOL
I don't care so much about others opinions of me. No skin off my back. It's America, think what you want, I'll do the same
I try not to trample timid sheep for sport but I absolutely cut my path through them with little regard to my wake. Those who care about their wake accomplish nothing as EVERYTHING leaves a wake
I do not suffer piety without protest
Because I have found that the more pious someone claims to be then the more they are lying/hiding something
We all lie and hide things but most of us don't go claiming to be better than our neighbor while doing so

I've also found that in a great many cases, though not all
Those who spout biblical verses do so to deceive
so be careful plodding down that path Rube

I'll admit that there's something cathartic about getting it off your chest.

Of course when it becomes a tome like War and Peace then how many read it? Or care?

Still, in Rube's defense, some points cannot be made in 140 characters
