The league adjusted to Julio and now he has to adjust back. He was one of our best pitchers in the 2nd half of last season. So very glad they didn't just call that last start one of those days and give him some work.

Not immediately and certainly not for good..week/week and a half rest opportunities while he´s down working on some things, it was going to happen more than likely anyway thanks to the new 10 day DL, LAD´s starting pitching depth and the need to keep him fresh/protect his arm.
The short term goal is to have Julio strong enough for an opportunity to start and gain experience in the post season this year..more than likely needs a strong September for that to happen.
The long term goal, he won´t reach in AAA or for maybe another couple years as he continues to gather experience in the bigs..only so much can be learned in AAA.
No, he´s not all the way ready..we´re still talking about a kid thats on a pitch limit/innings limit, so there´s still concern about protecting his arm, was saying that much during the ¨ he´s here for good ¨ parade that was going on earlier in the season.
When Julio´s able to go 110 pitches/200 innings, free and easy, that´ll be as good an indicator as any that he´s 100% ready.
When the kid is putting up a major league best ERA since the last all-star break through a large part of this early season, and outperforming 20-21yr old Kershaw, signals just get crossed and fans think he´s ready.
    Nah.

    i don't necessarily agree
he had two bad starts but gave up only 2 earned in his first three
imo he needs to learn to pitch to contact

    Dodgers Option Julio Urias
by Charlie Wilmoth | MLB Trade Rumors — 57 minutes ago

The Dodgers have announced that they’ve optioned young lefty Julio Urias to Triple-A Oklahoma City, recalling righty Josh Ravin from Oklahoma City to take his place. Urias allowed seven runs (six earned) in 2 1/3 innings against the Marlins yesterday, giving him a 5.40 ERA with just 4.2 K/9 and a 5.4 BB/9 over five starts this season despite allowing just two runs total in his first three. The Dodgers currently have six potential starting pitchers either on their 25-man or soon to be available (Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill, Brandon McCarthy, Hyun-Jin Ryu, and Alex Wood, plus Kenta Maeda, who is expected to return from the disabled list this week) so they can afford to let the 20-year-old Urias continue to develop in the minors for the time being.

This is exactly according the plan.
You just dont understand the plan.
    Even when its working.
You only see the pitfalls and never the warp zones.
You do know the Dodgers lead the MLB in ERA right?
That nobody team holds their opponent to a lower OPS than the Dodgers.
And our pitchers even hold the bases safe as we are the second hardest team to steal bases on.
Folks dont run on us, and when they do we catch them most of the time.
We lead the MLB or are #2 in most other important pitching stats like WHIP, K/9, K/BB, etc...
And that is knowing that our defense is middle of the pack as is our run support for our pitchers.
Yet still they excell. Thanks to an FO who has staggered our pitchers like rows of teeth on a Great White.
Sure sharks teeth are not the most durable but hey, if one falls another takes its place.
    Once bitten... twice shy babe.

Wow...thanks for explaining it all. So clear when you break it down. It goes from murky to say...total opacity.
Well, it's good to know that Ryu in Coors and Julio last night are" part of the plan"...and Romo and Hatcher, too.
Go figure...it's that hidden genius that dolts like me can't even imagine...it takes, well, it takes you Rube. Who knew they were part of the plan?
It's like the Hydra then? Of ancient times? Cut off one head, and another takes it's place?
    The Golden Age returns.
Now I can't wait until somebody gets injured or sent down again...thanks!

I hate the Giants but I honestly cannot even bear to look at that jarhead Lackey with his matted down grease hair and urinal teeth so I'm kind of glad to see him getting shelled

This series has me torn between burying the Gnats or wiping those smug looks off of Maddon and their team. I laugh so hard when I hear those ass lickers who applaud the Cubs every chance they get. Oh their pitching will just as good as last year! Lackey is going on 37, Hendrick had 1 great year and they lost that other pitcher whose name escapes me. Fuck em both!

Jason Hammel, who had a 2 1/2 year aberration with the Cubs, and now sucks with the Royals.

According to the LA Times, Brett Eibner has been working out in the bullpen. It says he pitched in college and had a 95 mph fastball.

The official plan? Or the top-secret plan?

Sounds like a guy doing whatever he can to stay on the big club. He doesn't want to get sent down for a 13th pitcher that we bring up just for mop up duty.

The want Eibner to be like a Christian Bethancort only more successful I guess, not sure if it'll work but I'm sure Brett is on board.
