Definitely some homo. And I only recognized Rau and Messersmith.

BTW, that spoiler feature is pretty cool. It needs to be utilized more.

Dave Courteney was pretty good for the Kings and Anals.

Eric Smith, the last Dodger PA guy, was great. He still does the Flippers and SC games. Saw his Twitter though and he's pretty much a jerk..so I don't miss him as much as I initially did.

Mychael said this morning that Trayce has been recalled and no corresponding move has been announced, but speculation is aplenty. Both Puig and Seager are dealing with injuries, McCarthy yesterday has to be a little unnerving, but in all likelihood this was all for one day of Freeman. Thompson has still not shown anything special in MiLB, he has game where you get excited. but then returns to awfulness. If Puig was gonna be down for a while, I would think it is Verdugo that gets the call and Thompson is only up to fill the bench vacancy left with the Gutierrez DL.

There is a murmur going around that the Dodgers FO is doing it again(I mentioned this in prospects as well)... it being that they have labeled some of the teams top prospects as strictly untouchable in trade talks. This is getting met with frustrations around the league with potential trade partners.

The rapid ascent of Bellinger had some of us a little shocked when the word came out that he was untouchable in the previous offseason and it sounds like the club is doing it again. I am not sure of whom those players may be, but I would guess Alvarez, Diaz and Buehler are certainly on that list. Verdugo's name is getting thrown around a lot on the web and in the media, but there are also those saying that he is very likely someone the club would need to be blown over to move. Jeff Passan today said a scout compared Willie Calhoun to Jose Altuve, which would be an absolutely insane comparable if that came true. I consider him the team's likely top asset with an AL team as he is at a position that the club may have a solid long term option at now(Chris Taylor).

One thing the club could kind of shockingly look to do is deal from their veteran depth. Rosenthal mentioned again that the team is still willing to move Puig and he has only helped the organization as his value has been raised a good bit from years past with his bounce back 2017, but the club could still look to upgrade at the position. Ryu is another player the organization could consider moving to grab depth at other positions.

Back to the first paragraph, I am really curious to see who the team has labeled as untouchable. Verdugo is showing a skillset that this team does not really have and could be viewed as the long term RF'er or even CF'er if the club elects to keep Puig and potentially move Pederson to LF where his skillset would likely play better. I know that Pederson gets some solid marks for his play in CF, but on a personal level I am somewhat underwhelmed. This FO has a better feel than anyone of what is going on in the system, so it will be interesting to hear what names are being floated around.

I was frustrated by this call of Trayce over Verdugo at first, but my guess is that he is strictly up for a bench role. I think if a potential long term opening occurred (say Puig out 2+ weeks), we would be seeing Verdugo as he is both white hot and AGon has said that this kid is ready after his time in the WBC.

The Giants chemistry is suffering because a guy they all hated is gone
by Craig Calcaterra | NBC Sports — 3 hours ago

I’ve spent years arguing with people about team chemistry. You know the battle lines on all of that now: people who talk a lot about team chemistry tend to attribute winning or losing to good or bad chemistry, respectively. I tend to think that characterizing chemistry is a retroactive exercise in which teams that win are happy and then cite their happiness as the reason and vice versa. Jim Leyland agrees with me, for what it’s worth, so I’m pretty happy with my take.

Not that I’ll claim a monopoly on wisdom here. I’ve never played on a professional baseball team. I don’t know what it’s like to try to prepare to play baseball while surrounded by jackwagons who don’t get along with anyone. I can’t imagine that makes life easier. Indeed, based on the testimony of players I have spoken to, I will grant that there is at least some intangible yet real benefit if everyone is happy an gelling. I dismiss team chemistry arguments for the most part, but if I ran a team I’d at least try to get rid of bad seeds if their bad seeding was not outweighed by seriously outstanding on-the-field play. You want your workers happy, folks.

All of which makes me wonder what the heck to do about this passage from Ken Rosenthal’s latest column. It’s about the reeling San Francisco Giants. They have all kinds of issues — their offense is putrid, their pitching isn’t much better and they’ve been without their ace most of the year — but today Rosenthal looks at their team chemistry. It’s a quiet and subdued clubhouse, he notes, and it has a lot of people wondering if something is wrong there. What could it be?

"Sandoval, who was an often noisy and boisterous presence during his time with the club, departed as a free agent after that season. Pence has suffered a number of injuries in recent years and declined offensively, making it difficult for him to be as vocal as he was in the past. Some with the Giants muse that the team even misses Angel Pagan, who created an odd sort of unity because most of the players disliked him."

Read that last sentence again. And then go on with your talk about how team chemistry is a legitimate explanatory concept regarding what makes teams win or lose as opposed to a post-hoc rationalization of it.

Not that it’s not a good article overall. There’s some interesting stuff about the Giants’ bullpen culture. And, of course, we now know why no one signed Pagan last winter.

The Dodgers are on pace to win 107 games. The Gnats are on pace to lose 106. While I think it's unlikely that both will finish in triple digits (at some point the Gnats will hit a little hot streak and end up with "only" 90+ losses), could you imagine if the stars aligned and both happened in the same season? And then we top it off with a WS win? A year for the ages!

Oh an I see that blowhard Rosendouche is now spouting off that the Dodgers could/would/should trade a cabbage head Puig for booger picker Cueto.

Once again Rosendouche proves that he is entirely clueless and also a closet (open?) vaGiants lover.

Trayce has pretty much always struggled or been meh in AAA and AA.
Funny enough, seems like the light comes on for him @ the MLB level.
His OPS at the big league level, altogether, even with weeks of playing hurt and sucking last year, crushes his career OPS in AAA and AA.
Last time he had a noteworthy stay in the upper-minors was 2012
