I think you are assuming the Colombian’s murder was drug related. Also assuming Argentinians are not as soccer crazy. Argentinians have, symbolically, crucified Messi for his failures and still idolize Maradona, no matter whether his personal demons affected his on filed performance, especially toward the latter part of his career.
