I hope this isn't a bad trend with the UFC with tonight's withdrawal of one of the ladies in the main event. I NEED to have Connor beat Mayweather!!!! NOT expecting it just hoping for it.

She pulled out due to a bad weight cut, same as Khabib but he wasnt medically cleared to fight. It is going to remain an issue and become worse until they implement rules to prevent drastic weight cuts, it is too advantageous for a fighter to be as big as possible.

Did you see her at the weigh-ins? She looked she was knocking on deaths doorstep, somebody is going to die cutting weight.

    totally agree
i've suggested staggered weigh-ins for years...
need to be within 10 pounds 2 months prior
    w/i 5 lbs, one month
and at/below the req'd weight every day for the final 10 days
would be a bkitch to regulate
but you're right bdk, someone could die from this -- the dehydration alone

As a former wrestler...making weight is a bitch. Running in 90 degree weather with a couple of sweat jackets on, spitting, pissing, taking a dump....it sucks.

People fainted, collapsed, and in the end they didn't perform better cause they were gassed.

There has to be a better way.

    http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...bout-tax-petition-asks-irs-temporary-reprieve

Now this pisses me off. I understand taxes are complicated especially if you have lots of money floating around. But for Mayweather to claim he needs the Conor fight to pay his 2015 tax liabilities is asinine.

How much money ha this dude made over the years? How much of that does he shove in front of people's face with the cars and the cash he loves to show and throw around.

    What an idiot.

Anyone that tries not to pay taxes is ok in my book.

I'd rather make it rain than have it stolen by the government who will just use it to bomb brown people in other countries.

I don't get "paying taxes" unless you're running a company. Mine are gone weekly automatically before the money is even put into my account.

If you are an employee in the US, taxes are withheld in an amount depending on you income level and what declarations you've put on form W-2.

However, after the calendar year and by April 14th, you still have to file several forms that determine what taxes, if any, are actually owed.

If over the past year, they have withheld too much, you get a return check from the IRS and the State. If they withheld too little, you will need to pay the shortfall.

Things like mortgage interest payments, charitable deductions, all play a part.

But not filing a tax return is a federal and state crime (if there is income tax in that state).

If you are a football player, basketball player, baseball or hockey player etc, you're probably an employee of the team.

Put people like Mayweather, golfers, tennis players....not sure what they do.

More than likely though , they are responsible for their own witholdings or need to have cash reserves to pay any taxes owed per their filing.

Looks like Mayweather didn't do anything for awhile, at least on his 2015 income year, so the tax man came calling.

Also if you investment income, or enough income that wasn't subject to withholding for whatever reason, you have to pay quarterly before the annual return is filed, or face a bunch of penalties. We make it really complicated here in the US. For a guy like Mayweather who probably has a lot of income and a lot of different business ventures, it would take a team of accountants to get it right.

Mousasi signed with Bellator, it's a damn shame what WME is doing to the UFC. Moose is probably a two weight champ over there. Bellator is getting some solid talent on there roster while investing heavily in the young guys too.
Damn shame moose didn't get his title shot in the ufc.

Yeah I heard him pitching pimping his new line of suits during the press whore event.

    Good for him.

Ferrari still makes far more off its merchandise than it does its cars

And Mayweather knows that quite well too, I'd be surprised that he wasn't wearing a Fayweather special customized red white and blue hoodie.

These two are each going to make fat coin.

    but not from me

The trash talking will be 10x more entertaining than the actual fight.

Watch the London press conference, doesn't matter if you care about the actual fight or not. What an event.

I don't find anything exciting about this spectacle.

Sure as hell not going spend a dime that would go towards Mayweather's IRS tab. Not fond of his woman beating habits out of the ring, either.

OK I'll rep the barbarian stance here

I love MMA fighting and remain convinced that MMA has killed boxing for all intents and purposes. Anyone who thinks they are a bas ass KNOWS that boxing = dancing and rope a dope whereas MMA is open brutal blood sport, not far from ancient Roman gladiators.

With all the repugnant side aspects admittedly. Still blood sport that is difficult to look away from especially at elite levels.

Fayweather has been a loudmouth, woman beating, 'defensive' dancer for years. He's cheapened boxing with his ducking Manny Pacquio for a half decade. This is all the more insane in that in boxing NO ONE is in charge. The damned boxers have to be their own promoters these days as Oscar and Don King etc are near worthless where compared to the promotional abilities of Dana White and the UFC. Can't blame "Money" for grabbing all he can, all by hisself.

All that loosely means I'd LOVE McGregor to shut Fayweathers dancing trap once and for all. Other sluggers Fayweather has faught haven't had Conor's ambidextrous skill set. Conversely McGregor is also a brash loudmouth who has near ziltch boxing experience but at least he's a new dad that hasn't (yet) beat his woman. And he's going up against a 49-0 superb fighter that has made a generation of boxers look bad,

And Conor DOES NOT like to look bad.

Still can he acquire enough of a boxing skill set to even make this fight close? Doubtful.

Mayweather also has by far the most to lose. Risking his 49-0 undefeated record against a beast of a fighter like McGregor is foolish... unless he's claiming a 9 figure payday, in which case who gives a shit?

Whatever it takes to gain that size payday is probably OK with anyone at DSP
