So glad we didn’t trade him in the Machado deal. He looks like a future beast. Imagine when he fills out a bit.

Eric Stephen brought up this guy earlier and I will admit that he has flown under my radar, but 2017 13th round pick Marshall Kasowski was given a quick promotion to AA. The 6'3" RH'er this season has been MOWING people down to the tune of 93(!!!) STRIKEOUTS in 51.2 IP, a 44.7% K rate. Craig Goldstein from Baseball Prospectus said he is working up to 97 this year. I do not know much about the dude, but those are some video game K numbers. Also has a 1.92 ERA across the A levels this season with a .131 BAA and 1.01 WHIP.

We're so deep. So I just noticed that DJ Peters is now our #5 spec? When did this happen it just snuck up on me.

I don't think that is correct anymore. He is probably closer to the backend of the top 10 unless he has a huge finish. I'd guess that Verdugo, Ruiz, Santana, Ferguson, Smith, Lux and May are all at least ahead of him. He still has monster upside, but he has GOT to cut his K rate down

Diaz is off the list now so it was updated I am assuming. It's MLB.com rankings so that may be the confusion. If he can hit HR's then the K rate is mitigated this is the new mlb but as always I defer to your analysis.

I can't remember if MLB Pipeline did a mid season update or not. They will do trade and graduation updates with tweaks depending on where the new guy lands. It is why a helium candidate outside a teams top 30 will jump to 18 after another dude graduates. All the midseason updates I have seen have him dropping a bit, but still say he has massive upside since he shows a skill set to fix his major flaws.

    MLB.com updated our top 30
    4 Top 100's
    5 55 Rated Specs
    10 50 Rated Specs
Still an incredibly deep system, but missing true superstar prospect as of right now. Guys like May, Ruiz and Cartaya possess that upside.

The big movers look to be Will Smith (no surprise), who jumped from outside the Top 10 to 3 and #74 overall, and Lux up to #6, we also see May crack the Top 100 (#83). Surprised to see Keibert Ruiz as high as he is, though we all know he is playing at a much higher level than your average just turned 20 year old.

The Ruiz thing is not all that surprising. Young catchers always seem to have a bad year at some point and I am fine with that as long as there is improvement on the defensive side of the game. He has apparently improved a good bit on some of his more lacking defensive skills which seems to wear on catchers at some point in their careers. He already had a good skill set behind the dish, but another step forward from him is great to hear.

Smith jumping all over the place is great to see. It seems that a lot of people think his bat is for real and if it it really is, he could make for nice option at 2B in the near future as well as a potential back up catcher to Ruiz if it all works out.

Smith already looks to be naturally what Barnes had to work hard for many years to try and become.

The 1st International signing this period was a catcher as well. 4 years ago we basically only had Austin as a spec.

Given how reluctant they were to play him at catcher even when he was up in the big leagues, I think they’re not confident on his actual catching abilities. They played him a lot and might trust the bat, but they really went out of there way to not let him be behind the plate

    Tony Gonsolin might be a guy. His line tonight with Tulsa: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R/ER, 2 BB, 11 K, 92 pitches, 63 strikes, 5/3 GO/AO. #Dodgers
    --------------------
Its like he gets better as he moves up the ladder. Could be in line to start next year in OKC and be one of the first guys up when needed.
