    They had my identification, including SSN, outside of my sight for almost 5 minutes and those accounts that were opened are places where young females shop. Whether or not they were black could have admittedly been left out but whatever. I said what I was thinking at the time whether it's right or wrong.
    I dont need to pretend to be woke or virtuous.

    It originally was a set up for a Popeyes joke later in the same post but I edited it out (in case Shaw types were present).
    Turns out editing the punchline actually made it more rkacist!

    I'll admit, though...I'm a jerk and was partially serious. Whatcha gonna do?

    thought maybe someone else might say something since i never really interviewed much in my life
    but i did hire plenty of people and would say people who spoke too fast maybe me nervous
    i know the process and questions may have changed but sincerity and looking someone directly in the eye never gets old

    whenever i went on an interview i tried to know as much about the company/trade as possible
    a little tricky, but if you can turn the interview to where you're the one asking the questions they'll fucken love you
    also try to get a copy of their job application and fill it out before you get there
    and above all make sure to get there early
    better to be an hour early than a minute late

    Millennials don’t get this enough.

    Research, research, research the company and position. Know it inside out.

    Remember your resume, inside out. Give examples of your accomplishments and skills.

    ASK QUESTIONS! Nothing turns me off more than a candidate that looks like they are ready to book out of the interview.

    Maintain eye contact. You’d be surprised how annoying it is when a candidate looks down at the desk, floor, sky, etc. I’ve had candidates sometimes literary stretch their necks during an interview or kinda doze off.

    These things are actually simple....why do people forget these things.

    Memorize your resume. Just in case.
    Get plenty of air into your lungs before you go into the building.
    Connect with the front desk/secretary person/staff on the way in and out.
    Answer in the affirmative as much as possible. You want to be agreeable. This is not the time to keep it real.
    When an answer has to be disagreeable start the answer with something positive then explain the bad quickly before finishing with more positive.
    Remember everything they mentioned in the ad in terms of functions/responsibilities and make sure you have knowledge/experience answers at the ready. Try to cover some of this stuff before they ask/bring it up for extra credit.

    Sometimes a quick story from your past gets you into your you zone in terms of relaxed enough speech. Good if you feel a little tight/anxious and can use something to break the ice and bring the interviewer closer to you in a relatable sense.
    This is where overtalking is ok. Only speak fast when telling a funny anecdote and you see the interviewer laughing/enjoying it along with you.
    The more you talk the more they get to see if you are a good fit for them on a company culture basis. This obviously has its negatives but that's on you.
    If there is sales/business in the job description then its ok to come off as a snake/shark.

    Make it an easy interview for them by truly answering their questions while covering ground that would make further elaborative questions less necessary. This will forward the interview along so that now you have the space in the room to turn the tables on the interviewers and ask questions yourself.
    Make sure you have something to talk about concerning the job/company that you wish to accomplish/learn as a way of showing that you are forward/goal thinking. Focus your questions around something like that so it doesn't seem like you are asking random questions about the company simply because its a good interviewing tactic.
    Don't be shy about you and what you have done and what you can do.
    Remember to breathe and relax.
    And when in doubt... what would Donald Trump do?

    Also Bring a pen. I interview people all the time and it’s annoying when they ask for a pen to fill out an app. Not sure if they will do a behavioral section but if they do- the questions are designed to get you to answer in different ways. Same types of questions worded differntly to see if you are using canned answers. Teamwork us huge. Emphasize that you are willing to do what’s needed to support the company and the guys you would be working with. Lastly, when it cones to integrity, make sure you are honest. Nothing wose than the standard- my worst quality is im a perfectionist answer!

    Oh and i always like it when the prospective employee says they will consult their supervisor when approaching OT and need to get a job done etc. shows responsibility to getting the job done but also aware that OT should be approved.

    well he's not applying for a sales job but what a stereotype to say its ok to come off as a snake/shark
    i've sold stuff most of my life and if the product is good and you can educate the client or find out what matters to them there is no reason to let your ambition get ugly
    good products or services sell themselves and a soft sell approach is a more palatable way of getting to the end result
    for instance if he was selling and electrical job its the client who has a need and called him out to find a solution
    usually the environment provides and idea of desire/need and you easily get to the point of quote or expanding on other things they want/need done
    showing your aptitude for your job and saying it on a bumper sticker gets you the job nearly every time unless your price point is out of wack
    being clean and able to maintain eye contact and not waste time is a big plus people appreciate along w making that appointment on time
    never underestimate how educated your client is on what you are proposing and respect them and their situation
    not once did i feel like i compromised my integrity as a fellow human for money in sales
    i take that back because at one time i did installations for home depot and was responsible for 25+ store in LA in addition to my own business
    at first it was ok but as time went on they demanded more and more as they eroded the margin of profit
    then it became clear what they wanted was for us to upcharge for every additional thing we did on the job
    i didn't measure these jobs personally but occasionally i would because i was in the area
    depot had started in earnest giving lines of credit to poor families and they would always agree to the upcharge because what choice did they have?
    depot would take a full 25% of the upcharge as well and after a couple of months they wanted to add more and more stores
    i struggled with it and ultimately came to the conclusion i had to give up that revenue stream and forfeited all my stores and focused back on my business
    it cost me employees and untold repeat business but it was dirty
    not all salespeople are dirty and all of us are salesmen whether we want to admit it or not
    you sold yourself to your wife w your deft and cunning linguistics

    I was i
    I was in car sales as a young person and its snakey as fuck. I out sold everyone because i was nice and didnt come off as a snake. Worked for me. Then years later i was in medical device sales and customers bought from me because they liked me. No way i was going to sell to MDs and RNs being a douche. Was great. Be genuine and do good by people and you win every time. Even if you dont make the sale you still maintain your integrity.

    show them its a good idea to do business w you or basically sell yourself and none of the other trick shit is necessary
    come through on what you sold and maintain a relationship and you just cloned yourself a new non paid salesman to send you business

    early in my sales career i used to have a saying...
    "i can sell anything if, #1, i know the product and, #2, i believe in the product"
    as the years wore on only #1 remained necessary

    Definitely have to know your product! Otherwise you come off as unprofessional and unprepared. All trust is lost.

    and w the internet your clients can be more in touch w whats going on than you are
    products change in the blink of an eye
    my lease is up and i was looking at the new models of the GS and was asking the salespeople where the 20's were
    when i asked if they were discontinuing the model no one knew for sure but they knew the don't sell many
    the utility vehicle rules now and even Ford cut back on sedans
    world changes freaking quick these days

    gf was blowing me up at 3am but john i'm only dancing
    chick i was on at the last reunion was a mess holy shit don't do drugs kids it was sad
    talked to a gay buddy i was talking shit w on fb and confirmed why i don't really do social media
    all in all it was fun and bizarre glad i went

    Interview was at 9, signed in at 8:15.
    They sent me to the break room where all of us were waiting to be called upon. I was interviewed shortly after 9 and before at least 15 people who were there before me but I anticipate they were probably late to the 8am appointment time.
    I controlled much of the interview with questions and also sating who I am and why this is important to me. Constant eye contact with a confidence in my posture and answers. At one point the lead guy jokingly said something like okay i need to start doing the interview now instead of you interviewing us. Towards the end of the interview the gentleman said he was confident that I would thrive.

    Maybe I misread the situation but I believe I left a great impression on them.
